Abstract

A frame (1) fixed to the toilet bowl (2) supports a movable pedal (3) which acts on a vertical rod (11) which in turn raises the seat from the bowl when the pedal is depressed. The travel of the seat (4) and the cover (5) is limited to prevent them being left in the open position when the pedal is released. The length of the vertical rod is adjustable , and adjustment of this length determines the inclination of the seat and cover in the open position. Travel of the cover and seat is limited and cushioned by an elastic stop (15) fixed on the toilet tank (16). The length of the stop is such that the cover (5) may stay in equilibrium in the vertical position when the toilet seat (4) is in the horizontal position.
