Abstract

Appts. for sealing anal orifice after slaughter, partic. in high prodn. rate industrial abattoirs, has ground fat or similar prod. injected into the rectum (16) of the animal (17) via a pressurising system (3) controlled by motorised valve (5) driven by installation controls. The pressurising system (3) is connected via flexible tube (6) to internal axial channel (7) in centring mandrel (9) of tool (8) used to cut out rectum (16). Motorised valve (5) is open when mandrel (9) has penetrated rectum (16) such that plug of fat (18) infiltrates all interstices assuring total sealing. The axial channel (7) reaches the tip of the mandrel (9). Pressurising system (3) is fed from grinder (1) via a non-return valve (2). Grinder (1) comprises a screw (10), fed from a hopper (12) and driven by motor (11), in rotation within sheath terminating in non-return valve (2). Pressurising chamber (23) consists of cylinder closed by piston (13) on which selected force is exerted by spring (14), or other means. Outlet (4) of chamber (3) is connected via motorised valve (5) to flexible tube (6).
