Abstract

The invention which is the subject of these presents relates to a monolithic monument including a large, rectangular base plate (18) with generally clean (bare) lines, which rests on the walls (2) and covers over the burial vault, which base plate comprises a raised part (20) covering part of its upper face, the configuration of the periphery (21) of which can evolve and the base plate (18) has a niche (recess) (19) and, at the back, carries a decorative headstone (22).

Description

 Monolithic funeral monument comprising mainly a base plate and an embellishment in granite, marble or other decorative mineral stone, placed horizontally and covering the funerary vault.

 Currently, the realization of a funeral monument generally includes a base plate in marble or granite placed on the funeral vault, which plate has generally stripped lines and its upper face is slightly inclined forward or on the sides for a rainwater evacuation.

 To embellish the monument, a second decorative plate, smaller and thinner, made of the same rock, is placed flat on the center of the large plate.

This decoration has the disadvantage of not being homogeneous in its appearance, in that the two plates have different veins. In addition, at the interstices between the two plates slide rainwater, under the action of the winds, propelling the proliferation of plants such as moss.

 Large plates very often have niches for flowerpots, which niches are formed with attached and glued elements, the joints of which pose, by their nature, the disadvantage of deteriorating over time and causing infiltration into the vaults.

 The present invention aims to achieve a funeral monument to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, in that the large plate eliminates any infiltration and has a uniform appearance between the different elements that compose it.

 The invention, object of the present, relates to a monolithic monument comprising a large rectangular base plate with generally stripped lines which covers the vault, which large plate has the distinction of having a partial enhancement of its upper face, without a joint, which enhancement is composed of variable shape, and the base plate carries according to a particular embodiment1 a decorative backsplash.

 The walls of the perimeter of the decorative enhancement are straight or oblique, or advantageously stylized, and the whole consists of a monolithic monument.

 The part forming the enhancement may have a variable height relative to the thickness of the base plate, or even a height greater than the latter.

 With this principle of realization, the shape of the periphery, of the enhancement, can evolve towards very diverse configurations such as circular, oval or represent a pattern for example a heart, a flower, etc ...

 According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the large plate has, on its front part, niches for accommodating flower pots, which niches are hollowed out in the mass of the large plate and have various shapes.

According to another embodiment, the face of the enhancement,
has a decorative pattern cut in the mass or said face is formed of different planes with variable inclination.

 The invention is set out below, in more detail, with the aid of drawings showing only by way of example, embodiments.

 Figure 1 shows, in perspective, a monolithic funerary monument comprising a base plate and an enhancement.

 Figures 1, 2, and 3 represent a granite funerary monument, one of the peculiarities of which is that it is made so as to obtain a monolithic monument, without joints comprising a rectangular base plate 1 which rests on the four walls 2 of the funerary vault, which plate has a raising 3 of its upper face 4.

This enhancement is slightly set back on three sides, relative to the periphery of the base plate 1, and said setback is greater on the front face of the monument.

The periphery 5 of the raising 3 is carried out by cutting the rock on the periphery 6 of the edge of the rock, shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 3 and 4, in which the monument will be formed. The periphery 5 of the raising 3 is formed on four sides at an angle.

 According to an alternative embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the monument comprises a large rectangular plate 7 which has a raising 8 and a transverse niche 9 on the front end, which niche has the shape of a parallelepiped and is formed in the mass of the base plate 7, and this plate carries on the rear end a vertical backsplash 10 immobilized by means of metal pegs 11. The pegs are housed in matching holes made in the lower part of the back splash 10 and on the upper face 12 from the base plate. The two longitudinal sides 13 and the front side 14, of the perimeter of the raising, are cut obliquely and the rear side is cut straight, so as to obtain a perfect juxtaposition with the base of the front face of the backsplash 10.

 According to another embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the monument comprises a base plate 15 covering the vault, which plate has a raising 16 on which is cut a pattern 17, the assembly forming a monolithic monument.

The pattern can naturally vary without consequence on the principle of design of the monolithic monument. The height of the enhancement, in this case, increases in proportion to the height of the pattern.

 Figure 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the monument, compared to Figure 4, comprising a rectangular base plate 18 having a niche 19 transverse to the front end and a rectangular enhancement 20 whose walls 21 of its periphery are straight. The back of the plate carries a backsplash 22, as illustrated in FIG. 5.

The niche 19 is cut in the base plate and has an upper opening.

 Figures 8 and 9 show an alternative embodiment of the monument without backsplash, in that the raising 23 of the base plate, has its periphery constituted by a projecting and median edge 24 which runs on its four sides.

 Figures 10 and 11 show another alternative embodiment of the rectangular enhancement, in that the wall 25 of its periphery has an upper and peripheral overflow 26.

 Figures 12 and 13 show another variant of the monument, without backsplash, in that the raising 27 is by its shape a pattern whose periphery 28 has several points 29 tangent with the periphery 30 of the base plate.

The walls around the enhancement are straight.

 The funerary monument, object of the invention, can be placed at ground level or raised on the walls of the vault.
