Abstract

The cover comprises a panel (1) with inserts, e.g. in the form of tubes, in the outer edges (2,3) which allow it to be held in place by clamping the edges inside the vehicle's front doors. The panel may be pref. made from a multilayer material, e.g. a thermoplastic film, a layer of aluminium foil and a layer of a nowoven textile, while the inserts may be fitted into hemmed edges or made in the form of extrusions with lengthwise slits, clamped onto the edges. The lower portions (9) of the cover's edges are pref. cut-off to adapt it to the shape of the vehicle bodywork. ADVANTAGE - Wide range of applications are obtd. for protection against differing conditions; and is also suitable for use on stationary aircraft or helicopters.

Description

DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a physical protection device affixable to the outside of vehicles and more particularly to the glazed parts of said vehicles.

 The physical protection functions essentially consist of a thermal screen: sun visor function in summer and a barrier to the phenomenon of night condensation: frost protection function in winter.

 It consists of a panel (l) of planar shape cut so that it can be used for vehicles of different dimensions, in particular in the case of application on the windshield and rear window.

Applied to the exterior of vehicles, it is provided with elements constituting extra thicknesses which prevent it from being torn off. Arranged on the lateral parts of the panel, these reference elements (2) and (3) as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, are preferably tubular inserts which confer on said panel (1) a local linear allowance allowing its fixing.

As shown in section in Figure 3, the panel (1) is applied to a windshield (5). The dimensions of the said panel are greater than those of the windshield so that the lateral parts which exceed the width of the frame i6) of the said windshield can be intro
picks up inside the vehicle and remain trapped in the bodywork when the door (7) is closed.

 Thus introduced the bulged part containing the insert (2) does not authorize the tearing of the protective panel from its support. Symmetrically the insert (3) fulfills the same function.

 The panel (1) is preferably made of a material insensitive to atmospheric agents, mold and temperature variations. It consists, for example, of a multilayer complex consisting of a sheet of nonwoven fabric, an aluminum sheet, a thermoplastic film of polyethylene or polyester type.

 The assembly has dimensional stability and has the properties of sealing against water vapor and shielding from solar radiation.

 The inserts (2) and (3) are preferably profiles made of tubular thermoplastic material, made prisoners of the panel (1) by wrapping then gluing, welding or sewing (8) in the side of said panel as shown in FIG. 2 .

 The panel (1) has a cutout in the area represented by a dotted line marked (9) in FIG. 1, which allows local clearance with respect to the breaking angle of the bodywork between the windshield and the bonnet.

This cutting optimizes the coverage of the surface and
to adapt the protection to windshields of different dimensions by
avoiding local folds likely to hinder the introduction of
inserts (2) and (3) in the vehicle as explained above. Said inserts therefore have a length substantially less than the width of the
panel but sufficient to be able to perform their stop function or
blocking of the panels, either due to an attempt to
flight, or under the effect of the wind in an exposed area.

Ea function of the inserts being thus defined, their shapes and dimensions
are shown by way of example in the appended figures.

As shown in Plate 2/2, these inserts can also have
the shape of the open profile mark (10) or (11 figures 4 and 5, discontinuous
mark (12) figure 6 or continuous mark (13) figure 7.

These mark (10) or mark (11) inserts are omega or U-shaped
and have a swollen sufleace: case of the profile type omega mark (10)
or a surface roughness: wings of the U profile reference (11).

In addition, the panel has a flat surface which allows
printer of decorative or advertising elements (
The application of this protection can be extended to devices
aeronautics - helicopters and airplanes - when parked on the ground
for which rapid operationality is sought as well as
protection against solar radiation from navigation equipment.

Claims (4)

 REDHL-TIONS  1 - Removable external protective device for use as a sun visor and a frost protector applicable to the transparent parts of parked vehicles consisting of a panel (1) provided in its side and in its lateral ends with inserts ( 2) and (3) which give said panel a local excess thickness serving as a tear stop, characterized in that said inserts are tubular type profiles of thermoplastic material trapped in a fold of said panel (1) , the said folds state made by gluing, welding or sewing. 2 - Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the panel material (1) is a multilayer complex consisting of a thermoplastic film, an aluminum foil and a sheet of nonwoven fabric. 3 - Protection device according to claims 1 and 2 characterized in that the inserts serving as retainer are open profiles in the shape of an omega mark (10) having a bulged surface, or in the form of a U mark (11) which has an asperity of profile, these profiles being discontinuous type (12) or continuous type (13). 4 - Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the panel (1) has local cutouts (9) located on the lower right and left lateral parts of the panel which give said panel local clearance relative to the chassis of the vehicle on which it is affixed.
