Abstract

Aerosol foam usable as carrier for medicinal or cosmetic active principles. It comprises an emulsifier and a solvent used in combination, the emulsifier being a self-emulsifying wax, and the solvent being propylene glycol.

Description

AEROSOL FOAM
The invention relates to an aerosol foam which can be used as a vector for medicinal or cosmetic active principles.

 For the treatment of certain ailments, it is preferable to use topical products, and for the application of these products, an aerosol foam constitutes a vector having certain advantages, due to the availability of the molecules of active principles which are there. either in solution or in suspension.

 The subject of the present invention is a foam aerosol which can be used as a vector for medicinal or cosmetic active principles, characterized in that it comprises in combination, an emulsifier and a solvent, the emulsifier being a self-emulsifying wax, and the solvent being propylene glycol.

According to other features of the invention
- in the case of a non-aqueous foam, it also comprises another emulsifier such as polyoxyethylene stearyl alcohol
- in the case of an aqueous foam, it further comprises another emulsifier such as ie poiysorbate 20, and water
- it also includes a fatty acid glyceride and polyethylene glycol
- It contains preservatives such as ethyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate;
- in the case of non-aqueous foams, the proportions of the constituents are as follows

 Examples of embodiment of aerosol foams according to the invention are given in the attached table. In this table, the compositions A1 to A7 are aqueous compositions, and the compositions NA1 to NA7 are nonaqueous compositions.

In all compositions
- emulsifier 1 is a self-emulsifying wax,
- the solvent is propylene glycol
- the PHBM preservative is methyl parahydroxybenzoate,
- the preservative PHBP is propyl parahydroxybenzoate,
- the propellant 1 is butane.

In aqueous compositions
- the emulsifier 2 is polysorbate 2O,
the glyceride is a glyceride of fatty acids and of polyethylene glycol,
- the propellant 2 is a freon.

In non-aqueous compositions
- the emulsifier 2 is polyoxyethylene stearyl alcohol.

The foaming compositions according to the invention have several advantages and in particular
- they are very stable
- the constituents used are all accepted by pharmaceutical and cosmetic legislation
- they can accept up to 30% by weight of medicinal or cosmetic active ingredients, such as liposomes, antibiotics, corticosteroids, antiparasitics, anti-inflammatories, antiinfectives, or antiseptics, for example
- they are particularly well suited for applications of topical products.

Claims (10)

 1. Foam-aerosoi usable as a vector of medicinal or cosmetic active principles, characterized in that it comprises in combination, an emulsifier and a solvent, the emulsifier being a self-emulsifying wax, and the solvent being propylene glycol.  2. Foam-aerosol according to claim 1, characterized in that in the case of a non-aqueous foam, it further comprises another emulsifier such as polyoxyethylene stearyl alcohol.  3. Foam-aerosol according to claim 1, characterized in that in the case of an aqueous foam, it further comprises another emulsifier such as polysorbate 20, and water.  4. Foam-aerosol according to claim 3, characterized in that it further comprises a glyceride of fatty acids and polyethylene glycol.  5. Foam-aerosol according to claim i, characterized in that it comprises preservatives such as methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate.  6. Foam-aerosol according to all of claims 2 and 5, characterized in that in the case of non-aqueous foams, the proportions of the constituents are as follows:  . emulsifiers: between 2.70 and 7.81%  . solvent: between 92.19 and 97.304  . preservatives: approximately 0.148  7. Foam-aerosol according to claim 1, characterized in that the foam propellant is taken from the group of hydrocarbons and carbofluorinated.  9.
