Abstract

Aerosol propellant foam of high expansion ratio is prepd. from soluble N2O in amount corresp. to satn. at 4-8 bars in a polyalcohol solvent consisting of glycols and/or glycerols (propylene glycol and glycerine). 0-4.5 pts. of a primary monoalcohol (pref. methosy 2-ethanol) based on polyalcohol and 3-10g of a liquid propellant (perfluoro hydrocarbon) based on the N2O is also present with an emulsifier and surfactant, paraffin oil and thickener mixed at 70-80 degrees C. The process uses non-flammable inert gas and gives a foam yield of 500-1000% in this solvent.
