Description

The present invention relates to a new composition for removing make-up from the eyes which has the particularity of being non-irritating and causing no ocular discomfort for the user.

Numerous compositions have already been proposed which make it possible to remove make-up from the eyes, but these, although being non-irritating for the ocular mucosa, have nevertheless presented certain drawbacks and in particular caused a sensation of tingling or ocular discomfort in the user.

Generally, during an eye makeup removal operation, it is frequent that, inadvertently, the composition used for this makeup removal comes into contact with the ocular mucosa and then causes certain irritations or tingling which can, in certain cases, lead to complications.

Most of the compositions which have been proposed for this purpose have the particularity of not causing irritation, which could easily be demonstrated using certain tests and in particular using the Draize test. However, these compositions all stung the eyes, thereby causing a feeling of discomfort for the user when the composition inadvertently came into contact with the eyes.

This tingling sensation caused by the compositions known hitherto can come from some of the ingredients present in these types of compositions.

In general, these compositions contain a surfactant, as well as a preservative making it possible to prevent any microbial contamination.

The tingling of the ocular mucosa can therefore be due either to the surfactant itself, or to the preservative, or to certain bacterial degradation products.

To date, it has not been possible to make compositions for removing make-up from the eyes, causing, on the one hand, no tingling sensation and, on the other hand, excellent preservation in the time.

Indeed, it has been seen that, on the one hand, certain surface-active agents although non-irritating sting the eyes and that, on the other hand, these had the effect, in certain cases, of inhibiting the antimicrobial action of the preservative.

In addition, these compositions generally contain other ingredients which can also inhibit the action of the preservative.

30 In order to remedy these various drawbacks, and in particular with the aim of obtaining a makeup-removing composition having the particularity of not causing tingling on the ocular mucosa and having, moreover, excellent preservation over time, the titular company, after extensive research, 35 was able to develop a make-up removing lotion made from certain well-defined surfactants and preservatives.

The subject of the present invention is a composition for removing make-up from the eyes, having the property of being non-irritant and of not causing tingling of the ocular mucosa, this composition containing in aqueous solution:

i) a surfactant chosen from the group consisting of monoraurate or mono-oleate of sorbitan oxyethylenated using 20 mol of oxyethylenated, or a mixture of these compounds;

ii) a preservative chosen from the group consisting of sodium ethylmercurithiosalycilate, a chlorhexidine salt such as digluconate, diacetate and dihydrochloride, a phenylmercury salt such as phenylmercury nitrate, a mixture consisting of 30% sodium benzoate and 70% mono-chloroacetamide, a compound corresponding to the following formula:

R represents an alkyl radical having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms or a mixture of compounds of formula I in which the radicals R are alkyl radicals such as, for example, mixtures C12-C14 and C14-C10 and mixtures of said agents 60 preservatives, and iii) a phosphate buffer, the pH of said composition being between 6.5 and 7.5.

This makeup removal composition is preferably in the form of a lotion. The aqueous solution is either 65 sterile demineralized water, or floral water (rose water, blueberry water, chamomile water, etc.) or their mixtures.

The surfactants used in the makeup-removing composition according to the invention are preferably the products

known under the trade names of Tween 20 and Tween 80, Tween 80 being sorbitan mono-oleate with 20 mol of ethylene oxide, and Tween 20 being sorbitan monolaurate with 20 mol of oxide of ethylene.

Preferably, the surfactant is present in the composition at a concentration of between approximately 2 and 5%, but it depends on the foaming power which it is desired to impart to the composition.

The lotion preservative is preferably between 0.002 and 0.3% and preferably between 0.02 and 0.2%.

Among the compounds of formula (I) above, mention may in particular be made of myristylketyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride and laurylmyristyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride.

The phosphate buffer present in the composition makes it possible to maintain the pH of said composition between 6.5 and 7.5 and, preferably, between 7 and 7.2.

For this purpose, it has been found that the hydrogen phosphate-dipotassium / potassium dihydrogen phosphate buffer leads to excellent results, since this buffer does not in itself cause any irritation and no tingling and has the power of not inhibiting the conservative agent action.

The make-up removing lotions according to the invention can also contain other traditional adjuvants such as, for example, humectants, softeners, perfumes or dyes.

It is important, of course, that these adjuvants also have the particularity of not causing irritation or tingling of the ocular mucosa.

Among the humectants, mention may in particular be made of hexylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 600, etc. Among the softening agents, mention may in particular be made of allantoin,

azulene, etc.

We will now give, by way of illustration, several embodiments according to the invention.

Example 1:

A make-up removing lotion for the eyes is prepared according to the invention, causing no irritation and no tingling of the ocular mucosa by mixing the following ingredients:

Tween 20 3.5 g

Hexylene glycol 1 g

Allantoin 0.05 g

Chlorhexidine digluconate (20% solution) 0.75 g

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.102 g

Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, 3H2O 0.394 g

Sterile demineralized water qs 100 g

This lotion has a pH of 7.

The conservation of this lotion is excellent for several months after the first use.

Example 2:

According to the invention, an eye make-up removing lotion is prepared by mixing the following ingredients:

Allantoin 0.05 g

Tween 20 3 g

Hexylene glycol l g

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.204 g

Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, 3H2O 0.788 g

Sodium ethyl mercurithiosalicylate 0.003 g

Rose water

Sterile demineralized water qs 100 g

This lotion has a pH of 7.2.

When applied to the ocular mucosa, it causes no irritation and no discomfort to the eye. Its conservation is excellent for several months after its first use.

In this example, the Tween 20 can advantageously be replaced by the same amount of tween 80.

Example 3:

According to the invention, an eye make-up removing lotion is prepared by mixing the following ingredients:

Tween 20 3.5 g

Hexylene glycol 1 g

Allantoin 0.05 g

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.102 g

Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, 3H2O 0.394 g

Myristylcetyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride - 0.1 g

Sterile demineralized water qs 100 g

This lotion has a pH of 7.

In this example, Tween 20 can advantageously be replaced by the same amount of Tween 80.

Example 4:

According to the invention, an eye make-up removing lotion is prepared by mixing the following ingredients:

Tween 20 3.5 g

Hexylene glycol 1 g

Allantoin 0.05 g

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.102 g

Dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, 3H20 0.394 g

Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 0.080 g

Sodium benzoate 0.03 g

Monochloracetamide 0.07 g

Sterile demineralized water qs 100 g

This lotion has a pH of 6.8.

Composition for removing make-up from the eyes, non-irritating and non-pungent for the ocular mucosa, characterized in that it contains in aqueous solution: i) a surfactant, chosen from the group consisting of monolaurate and mono-oleate of sorbitan oxyethylenated using 20 mol of ethylene oxide or a mixture of these compounds; ii) at least one preservative chosen from the group consisting of sodium ethylmercurithiosalicylate, a chlorhexidine salt, a phenylmercury salt, a mixture consisting of 30% sodium benzoate and 70% chloracetamide and a compound corresponding to the following formula: çhs ® r-n-ch2-c6h5 Cl © ch3 (I) in which: R represents an alkyl radical having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms or a mixture of compounds of formula I, and iii) a phosphate buffer, the pH of said composition being between 6.5 and 7.5. 2. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the surfactant is present in a proportion of between 2 and 5%. 2 3. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the chlorhexidine salt is digluconate, diacetate or dihydrochloride. 4. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the phenylmercury salt is phenylmercury nitrate. 5. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the compound of formula I is myristyl-eetyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride or laurylmyristyl-dimethylbenzylammonium chloride. 6. Composition according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the preservative is present in a proportion of between 0.002 and 0.3% and preferably between 0.02 and 0.2%. 7. Composition according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the phosphate buffer is a dipotassium hydrogen phosphate phosphate / potassium dihydrogen phosphate buffer. 8. Composition according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pH is between 7 and 7.2. 9. Composition according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it also contains adjuvants such as humectants, softeners, perfumes or dyes.
