Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a hinged panel of a new type, intended to be used in particular in carpentry, cabinetmaking, or for the installation of shops or exhibition stands.
We know that for this type of activity, it is common to have to dress a structure or a frame. I1 can be for example to dress with wooden panels, a pillar of raw concrete. We may also have to dress the framework of a bar, a counter, or an exhibition stand. I1 can also be to dress the frame of a piece of furniture or a locker. When this covering is to be carried out on flat surfaces, it is known to obtain it by applying a panel which may be of wood, plastic, or any other material providing the desired final appearance to the framework. On the other hand, when the surface to be dressed is curved, we find that the methods used by the installers are complicated and very costly in hours of labor. Most of the time, the dressing is obtained by juxtaposition and assembly of facets flat.
The present invention aims to avoid these drawbacks while also providing a new decorative appearance.
The device which is the subject of the invention, for making the covering of a support or a framework, is characterized in that it consists of at least one articulated panel formed by the juxtaposition of longitudinal elements, each of which is rendered integral with the adjacent element or elements, where it is articulated along one or two longitudinal axes.
According to another characteristic of the invention, each longitudinal element has a longitudinal front edge and a longitudinal rear edge whose cross sections are identical, one corresponding to a male profile and the other to a female profile, which allows d '' assemble each longitudinal element between two adjacent identical elements.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the cross section of the front edge and that of the rear edge comprise at least one arc of a circle, which makes it possible to articulate the connection of each longitudinal element with the adjacent longitudinal element or elements.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the cross section of the front edge and that of the rear edge of the same longitudinal element comprise an arc extending over more than 1800. Thanks to this arrangement, if the rear edge of a longitudinal element constitutes a mortise with a circular cross-section, the front edge defines the corresponding tenon capable of being entangled in the identical mortise of another longitudinal element, while keeping the two elements which remain articulated solidly assembled on the 'other.
In this case, the elements are assembled by sliding longitudinally from one to the other, successively for all the elements intended to constitute the articulated panel according to the invention.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the longitudinal elements are of two kinds, each element of the first category being arranged between two elements of the second category on which it is articulated, and vice versa. In this case, each element of the first category has a front edge and a rear edge with a male assembly section, while each element of the second category has a front edge and a rear edge both with a female assembly section.
In all cases, the hinged panel according to the invention constitutes a covering assembly that the installer can directly apply against a surface to be dressed, whether this is flat or curved, xncave convex.
The appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will allow a better understanding of the invention and the advantages which it is likely to provide.
Figure 1 schematically shows an articulated panel according to the invention ready to be used to cover a pillar.
Figure 2 is a section along II-II (Figure 1) once the pillar is dressed
Figure 3 shows another possibility of use for a hinged panel according to the invention.
Figures 4 to 7 are different views showing in perspective the structure of an articulated panel of the kind used in Figures 1 and 2, where the longitudinal elements are all identical to each other.
Figures 8 to 11 illustrate another variant of an articulated panel according to the invention where the longitudinal elements belong to several different categories.
Figures 13 to 15 illustrate an additional variant for a longitudinal element of an articulated panel according to the invention.
Figure 17 shows the hinged panel obtained by their assemblies, it being understood that all of these longitudinal elements are identical to each other.
In the description which follows, it remains understood that all the longitudinal elements can be made of various materials, in particular wood, plastic, metal or any other composite or non-composite materials.
There is shown in Figure 1 a masonry pillar (l) which is proposed to perform the dressing. For this, the invention provides an articulated panel (2) whose implementation is carried out by simple winding around the pillar (1) (Figure 2). This articulated panel is formed by juxtaposition of longitudinal elements (3) which, in the present case, are all identical to each other.
Each of the longitudinal elements (3) has a convex longitudinal front edge (4) with an arcuate profile. On the other hand, its rear edge (5) is concave, also in the form of an arc, of a circle of the same radius. In other words, each of the longitudinal elements (3) can be juxtaposed with other identical elements in which it fits, while leaving the possibility of articulating them one on the other, due to the presence of the arcs of circle.
The connection of the various longitudinal elements (3) to one another can be ensured by any means. In particular, one can provide in the thickness of each longitudinal element (3), one or more transverse holes (6), where one can pass a flexible link (7), elastic or not.
It is clear that with an articulated panel (2) of this type, one can dress, not only the pillar (1), but any other structure, especially inside a room, or a store. For example, in the case of Figure 3, it has been assumed that the hinged panel (2) was used to dress the counter of a bar (8).
In the variant illustrated in Figures 8 to 12, the longitudinal elements are not all identical to each other. Indeed - a longitudinal element (9) of the first category has a front edge and a rear edge with a male assembly section. These two front and rear edges with convex section are constituted by two circular rods, namely a front circular rod (10) and a rear circular rod (11). These two rods are interconnected by a flat longitudinal core (12). This gives the assembly a cross section having substantially the shape of an "8" between the two loops (10 and (11) of which the core (12) would be inserted.
On the other hand, each element of the second category has a front edge (13) and a rear edge (14) both concave and corresponding to the shape of an arc of a circle of the same diameter as that of the male parts (10) and ( 11).
In addition, it will be noted that each of the two arcs of a circle
(13) and (14) extends at an angle to the center (15) whose value is greater than 180. Thanks to this arrangement, if one engages by longitudinal sliding the front edge
(10) of an element (9) in the rear edge (14) of an element
(16) of the second category, these two elements (9) and
(16) are now linked to each other by an articulated assembly.
Of course, if the axial length (17) of each element (16) is less than the axial length (8) of the elements (9) of the first category (Figure 12), the assembly can also be completed by using simple rods (19) with circular section. Each of these latter then serves as a simple articulation axis for several superimposed elements (16) of the second category.
Such a structure illustrated for example in FIG. 12, can be used in particular to constitute an interior partition, the support of a display stand, or a partition on an exhibition stand.
Another variant is shown in FIGS. 13 to 17 where all the longitudinal elements (20) are identical to each other. Each element (20) has a cross section, the convex front edge (21) of which defines a longitudinal post (22) with circular section. Furthermore, the concave rear edge (23) defines a longitudinal mortise (24) of also circular section, capable of receiving the tenon (22) of another element (20).
Thus, to assemble the articulated panel (2) (Figure 17), it suffices to slide the front tenon (22) of each element (20) longitudinally, in the rear mortise (24) of the adjacent element. It is understood that this particularly simple method of assembly makes it possible to obtain an articulated panel (2) with the most diverse possibilities.
