Abstract

The invention relates to systems for manual collection of dog excrement. The device is in the form of a simplified paper or plastic film glove, having the characteristic of being capable of being reversed to be converted into a bag. It is composed of a sleeve 1, ending on one side in an inner fold 2 forming a bag, and, on the other side, in a handle 3 and a closure system 4. An initially folded part 5 of the device facilitates this reversal operation. The user introduces one hand into the sleeve 1 and distributes his/her fingers on either side of the fold 2. He/she grasps the excrement without direct contact. He/she then reverses the glove/bag by pulling on the handle 3 and closes it using the tie 4. It can then be carried without difficulty.

Description

 The present invention relates to manual collection systems for dog excrement.

 The number of domestic animals in the city increases considerably each year, and in particular that of dogs and cats.

If the cleanliness of cats does not pose a community problem, that of dogs becomes critical. For example in Paris, the municipality has twenty tonnes of dog excrement removed daily. Several municipalities are proposing to make this collection compulsory by dog owners themselves, and it is likely that a text of a law to that effect be passed in France in a few years.

However, there is at present no simple system for collecting and disposing of these excrements.

 The device which is the subject of the invention provides a solution to this problem.

This device must fulfill two main functions:
- Serve as a glove for manual collection, without contact with fingers.

 - Serve as a closed bag for easy and brief transport to the first trash can.

Two other imperatives then appear to make the invention marketable. First be disposable, therefore very inexpensive and very easily achievable, and then be easily transportable with you so that you always have it available, therefore be thin, foldable or rollable.

To meet these last two requirements, the material of the device which is the subject of the invention may be made of paper or of light plastic film.

Likewise, the implementation must be as simple as possible:
A simple sleeve, of oval or cylindrical section, acts as a glove. At the end of the glove, an internal fold determines two compartments for placing the fingers, on either side of the pocket formed between the two.

(figure 1). Once the excrement has been entered, the user transforms the glove into a bag by simply turning the device over. For this, one or two small handles ending the sleeve, cut directly from the film or paper, allow this operation. These same handles are then used to transport the glove-bag. A ligament or similar system also makes it possible to close the glove-bag and make it waterproof during transport.

 Figure 1 shows the position of the hand inside the glove-bag, during the pickup operation.

 Figure 2 shows the operation of turning the glove-bag by pulling on the handle.

 Figure 3 shows the glove-bag during transport after ligation to make it waterproof.

 Figure 4 shows an industrial embodiment of the invention.

 FIG. 5 shows the manufacturing principle of the example of FIG. 5.

 Figures 6 to 11 show alternative embodiments of this invention.

 In the example chosen for FIG. 4, the sleeve is composed of a band folded in half and thus giving two parallel sides 1 and 2. these two sides are glued or welded according to a known and used technique, on the edges 3 and 4.

Section B, originally flat, is validated by the introduction of the operator's hand.

The lower end of the sleeve is closed by an internal fold 5 of the film. In this example, the interior fold is made along a fold line 6, inclined, to correspond to the shape of the hand (fig. 1). the edges of this fold are welded with sections 3 and 4.

The upper end of the sleeve ends, in this example, with a single handle 7, cut directly from the film, in a simple round hole 8. This handle is connected to the body of the sleeve by two inclined lines 9.

In this example, and for simple and effective use, the body of the sleeve is slightly returned to its upper part, along a line 10, perpendicular to the axis of the sleeve, and the handle 7 disposed astride a section 3 of the sleeve. . In this way, during use, the handle 7 is located on the top of the hand, and accessible by the other hand, thus facilitating the inversion operation.

A closure wire 11, similar to those used for trash bags, is fixed at the limit of the sleeve, under the handle, in its position of use. It allows the glove-bag to be closed after turning and to make it waterproof during the duration of transport.

FIG. 5 shows a method of manufacturing this example, from a plastic film in a strip, and using tools of known technique which can be made by those skilled in the art.

A system advances the film 12 in successive steps.

At each new step 13, a cutting tool performs a pre-cutting 14 of the film, giving the shape of the unfolded glove-bag (position 1).

A second tool ensures the successive folds for the shaping of the inner fold 5, and the welding of the sections 3 and 4 up to the limit of the fold 10 (position 2).

A third dutil ensures the folds 10, on each side of the glove-bag and the end of the welding of sections 15 and 16, at the handle (position 3).

These different tools can be combined in an automatic production machine in very large quantities.

Other variants of the invention can be produced according to the materials or the manufacturing methods.

In FIG. 6, the line 6 of the inner fold 5 is parallel to the lower edge, to simplify the cutting of the film, the cutting 14 then being rectilinear.

In FIG. 7, the interior fold is not connected to the edges 3 and 4. The edges 17 and 18 are welded together only. This arrangement is especially valid in the case where the sleeve is produced using a plastic film in the form of a tube, according to a current technique that is known and used.

Figure 8 shows an embodiment of the invention with two symmetrical non-folded handles and a slightly conical sleeve to facilitate turning.

FIG. 9 shows an embodiment with two symmetrical lateral handles and a beginning of turning 19 of the sleeve, on one side only. This arrangement facilitates the folding operation of the fold 10.

FIG. 10 shows an embodiment with two lateral and symmetrical handles, and with an integration of the closure system in the film itself. Two tabs 20 are obtained by cutting the film, at the level of the handles. These tabs can optionally be attached to the film by a tear-out pre-cutting system 21, according to a technique commonly used with these materials.

Another variant consists in stiffening the lower edges of the inner fold 5 to facilitate picking up.

FIG. 11 shows an exemplary embodiment with two strips of rigid or semi-rigid plastic 22, glued inside the edges of the fold 5.

These various variants of the invention can, of course, be mixed together to best adapt to manufacturing techniques and commercial demand.

 Figures 1 to 3 show the user manual of the device object of the invention.

The user introduces a hand into the glove-bag by placing his fingers on either side of the interior fold.

Then, he grasps the dog excrement on the ground, with his fingers, but without direct contact (fig. 1).

The user can then turn the glove-bag upside down, without letting go of the excrement, and by pulling on the handle (s) with the other hand (fig. 2). From this moment, he can let go of the excrement; now inside the bag itself.

Finally, the user proceeds to close the glove-bag by the figature of the wire, and can then comfortably transport the glove-bag (fig. 3).

 As the reader can see, this invention is entirely suitable for the manual collection of canine excrement by dog owners.
