    the closing part (4) being carried by one (7) of the ends (7, 8) of at least one elongate member (9) translationally guided through the box in a direction substantially perpendicular to the opening plane of the box, and the other end (8) of the elongate member having, at least indirectly, an operating means (10) permitting the displacement of the closing part (4) towards the opening (3), this device being characterised in that:
    firstly, it comprises two elongate members (9) which, together with the closing part (4) and, at least indirectly, the operating means, form a frame, and these two elongate members (9), being in the form of strips, slide in runners (12) provided in the two lateral walls of the box which are orthogonal to the opening, and
    secondly, the elongate members (9) comprise means (11) allowing them to be folded locally to reduce the length thereof and therefore, in consequence, the spatial requirement of the device.
  2. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 1, characterised in that the operating means (10) extends substantially in the plane of the horizontal base of the box towards the rear and has at least one folding line (13) for folding it back at least partially.
  3. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 1, characterised in that the upper wall (14) of the box has a folding line (15) parallel to the front face of the box and delimiting a rear wall portion (16) which, when the box is assembled, is immobilised in relation to the other walls, and a forward wall portion (17) forming a flap (17) movable between a first position, in which said flap is in a plane parallel to the base of the box, and a second position in which the free edge of the flap is lifted to enlarge the opening (3) of the device and to facilitate the introduction of the refuse.
  4. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 3, characterised in that, in order to lift the flap and hold it in its raised position, the device comprises:
    firstly, a strap (18), one of the ends of which is fixed to the free end of the flap and the other end to the rear of the box, and
    secondly, supported on the top of the box and on the strap, a rigid finger (19) which tilts in order to move the strap away from the top of the box.
  5. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 4, characterised in that the strap is a strip made of cardboard, like the rest of the box, and having a cutout (20), through which projects part (21) of the rigid finger, said part (21) forming the gripping means (5) of the device.
  6. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 5, characterised in that the top of the box has a notch (22) in which the bottom of the rigid finger is located when the flap is sufficiently raised, the finger thereby being immobilised, likewise the flap.
  7. A device for picking up refuse according to claim 1, characterised in that it comprises a telescopic sleeve comprising a clamp gripping the operating means (5).
