Abstract

Combined controls device, for obtaining, at the appointed time, the steering operation, with dual forward-travel reverse-travel alternate and corrected piloting of a self-steering axle 15 or follower axle 13, operating as follows: The compressed air is sent into and stored in the brake bottle 18. A blocking valve 1 calibrated to approximately 6 bar opens and transmits the surplus pressure to the distributor which is at rest and therefore open via the pipeline 4. This pressure activates the hydraulic or pneumatic thrust cylinders V.A. and the self-steering axle 15 is prepared for operating fowards travel. The engagement of reverse gear in the gearbox (or any other means) of the towing vehicle, or lorry, activates the original contact, provided for switching on the reversing light. This current arrives through the flex 9 at the electrical distributor 3 which, via the pipeline 5, activates the reverse running thrust cylinders V.R. The air in the front thrust cylinders is released at the same time, and the self-steering axle is thus ready for reverse travel.
