Abstract

Device intended to produce an adjustable head intended for gripping articles. It consists of a metal frame, and of an elastic strap 7 tensioned by a winch 14. The flexible gripper 2, 3 is fastened on this strap by means of a threaded rod. The gripper is attached and fixed in a sliding clamp equipped with a groove. The axis of the hinge of the gripper passes into this groove. The device according to the invention is, above all, intended for handling hollow glasses in the glass-making industry.

Description

 The present invention relates to a device intended for producing an adjustable head intended for gripping articles and for their channeling, if necessary for paletizing them by successive layers.

 Currently, single inflatable tubes (one element) are used, which leads to a large number of models and a significant loss of time for the increasing number of manufacturing changes in industries such as the manufacture of hollow glass. The invention overcomes this drawback by allowing a number of models divided by three, a practically automatic center distance adjustment, a change without stopping the product.

The gripper
It consists of a metal hinge (2).

 On each wing of this hinge (2) is vulcanized flat an inflatable chamber (3). For good rubber stiffness of the coated fabrics (13) overlap the metal part of the hinge. A return spring (4) allows each inflatable chamber to be one against the other in the rest position. The hinge is released at two points (12) revealing its pivot axis. This allows the gripper to be attached (see Figure 7) when used with the adjustment system (Figures 5 and 6).

 Each inflatable chamber is supplied separately from a small supply pipe (6). When the chambers (3) are inflated. this leans one on the other, the developed power allows the hinge to open (Figure 2). The chambers act like a flexible cylinder. pliers. and jam the product to be handled.

 When we put the strap (7) under tension thanks to the reel 114), the strap lengthens and thus varies the centers of the eyelets, so the grippers. The centers remain perfectly at regular intervals and increasingly larger thanks to this tension. Currently, these can vary by 100%. They return to their original position when the strap is released from this tension.

Parts 10 and 11 allow the centering of this threaded rod 1 as well as a sliding in this slot formed by the two metal cases.

 In the room (11). we made a groove to identify the passage of the axis of the hinge 12.

 When the threaded rod 1 is tightened, this axis is trapped and therefore the gripper. Two such snaps are enough to hold the gripper. We can also put more.

 When the threaded rod is ~ tightened on 1 axis (12). just tighten the lock nut (& which locks the assembly in the chosen position.

 In an accident. to change a gripper. it is enough to loosen the two threaded rods (1), to remove the defeotuous gripper, to put a new one. Duration of the operation: a few minutes.
