Abstract

A cylindrical sleeve (1) has four small flanges (2) which are located around one of its ends. Along its length there are two sets of four slots (3,5) each slot having a corresponding tongue (4,5). The four tongues nearest to the flanges (2) are such that they are convex relative to the axis of the cylinder, while the remaining four tongues are concave to the same axis. In operation the cylindrical sleeve (1) is placed over the barrel (11) of the sensor to be located and the whole is then inserted into a cylindrical housing (S) of a working part (W) such that measurements can be made on an object (12). In this position the first set of tongues prevent the barrel of the sensor withdrawing from the sleeve and the second set prevent the sleeve from leaving the housing. ADVANTAGE - Barrel of sensor is held firmly in position without need for time consuming conventional fixings.
