Abstract
Description
The present invention relates more particularly to packaging used as containers of a material or product. The specificity of the process relates to the formation of the sealed container, obtained exclusively by folding, provided with an automatic closure by independent cover. The fields of application and uses are innumerable, especially in all sectors where packaging is necessary. We can cite for example all the activities where we want to pack and isolate compressible or elastic materials (waste of any kind, foam, wadding, sponges, etc ...) which allow the lid to lock on its own. also widening the scope of the system to the packaging of products, materials or materials which, unlike the previous ones, are inert and therefore do not allow the lid of the packaging to lock. This drawback, quite relative, is easily overcome by adding and fixing under the cover an elastic material (plastic foam, polystyrene chips or other which plays the role and actively replaces the phenomenon of elasticity produced naturally by other materials In addition, because of its tightness, the container makes it possible to receive partially or abundantly moist products or materials.
The container can be made of polyethylene or other laminated cardboard, HOT-MELT, KRAPO treated cardboard, AKILUX type plastic corrugated cardboard, etc., or any other process allowing success, according to the requirements of use, mechanical resistance or against persistent humidity. The container obtained after folding can be either square or rectangular. It consists before folding of a plate cut according to a special shape shown in fig. 6, and folding traces (12,13,14 and 15) having the function of allowing the formation of said container. The special shape of the faces 10 can be removed in order to make the four faces 10 and 11 identical. The purpose of this special shape at the time of folding is to cover the slot caused by the union of the lateral half-faces 10 and 11. As a result, the pre-cut handles on the opposite faces 9 are protected and allow to appear when they folding and opening an entire layer of cardboard instead of the slit due to the union of the side half-faces 10 and 11.
In addition, the two opposite outer flaps 4 can be located either on the short or the long sides in the case of a container of rectangular shape.
The different phases of forming the sealed container are: 1) The two opposite outer flaps 4 are folded inwards lengthwise on the side faces 8 and along the tracks 12, as shown in fig.7.
The two opposite lateral faces 8 are raised inwards perpendicularly to the bottom 17 of the container along the parallel tracks 13 as shown in fig.8.
By pushing towards the interior of the container the traces 14 the side face 9 is partially raised. Then just push this side face 9 until joining the angles of the side faces 8 as shown in fig.9. The height of these lateral faces 9 can be the same as the total height of the container. On the other hand, in order to allow better holding of the internal lateral half-faces 10 and li, it is recommended to reduce the height of these lateral faces 9 by a certain distance (preferably 25mm) in order to allow an overlap of the adhesive strip 19 in same time on the side face 9 and the internal side half-faces 10 and 11. To keep this face 9 in place, it suffices to apply an adhesive strip starting from a side face 8, passing astride the side face 9 and the internal lateral half-faces 10 and 11, and joining the opposite lateral face 8.
4) Renouveler ces opérations sur la face opposée 9, afin de terminer la formation du conteneur comme représenté fig.lO.4) Repeat these operations on the opposite face 9, in order to complete the formation of the container as shown in fig.lO.
By this particular folding and cutting system, a sealed container is obtained provided in its upper part with two continuous internal flaps between the angles of the side faces 8 and interrupted only in the middle of the side faces 9. These flaps 4 are intended to receive the cover 1 and to maintain it after closing and to resist the rise of said cover after locking by pressure of the latter inside the container as shown in the section fig.2.
The cover can be rectangular or square depending on the container in which it fits. It can be made of material identical to that of the container or different according to the criteria and requirements for use.
The peculiarity of this cover is that, unlike traditional packaging, the cover which closes the container does not come to cover this container, but comes to be forced inside the latter. This cover 1 fig.ll consists of a rectangular or square base, the dimensions of which are slightly smaller (a few millimeters for example) than the dimensions of the inlet orifice of the container into which it is introduced, and folds 2 fig.ll of variable height (3 to 5 centimeters for example) having the function of forming its sides. In addition, this cover is differentiated by the fact that the folds which form its periphery are not interconnected in the corners, but on the contrary are notched in each corner 18 fig.ll so as to make them independent of each other. The notches 18 made in the corners of the lid can have a variable angle, but preferably a 1800 cut like 18 fig.11 in order to allow good penetration of the corners of the lid (after folding) in the corners of the flaps or sidewalks of the container . Indeed, if the notch had an angle of 900, the folds after folding would touch and could not pass under the flaps of the container especially in the corners. These folds can be obtained by marking a trace 20 fig.ll during manufacture or any other means. The purpose of this marking is to maintain an elasticity to these folds after folding, because it is necessary to be able to fold them perpendicularly to introduce the cover into the upper orifice of the container. Then these folds 2 must open after passing through the sidewalk 4 of the container to press against the walls of this container so as to be certain that when the ascent the edges of the cover will fit well under the flaps 4 of the container 3 in the space 5 fig.l delimited by the edges of the container and 4 flaps or sidewalks.
The closure using this cover requiring high pressure due either to the importance of the volumes introduced into the container in the case of compaction (the aim sought in this case being the reduction in volumes), or to the elasticity elements added under the cover (foam, or polystyrene chips or other) in the case of a completely inert content, the said cover will go up after release of the thrust and be stopped in its upward movement by the internal folds formed in the corners of the container by the sidewalks and by the fact that the edges of the cover are at this moment trapped under the flaps of the container in the space 5 shown in the section fig.l.
Figs. 3,4 and 5 show precisely the different phases of the automatic closing of the sealed container which is the subject of the request. In fig.3 the container 3 being in place within the enclosure of the device intended for closing, and filled with compressible or elastic materials or products 6 (waste, wadding, etc.). The cover 1, the folds 2 of which are oriented upwards, is in place, after having been introduced into the enclosure situated above the container full of products 6. The pressure piston 7, the base surface of which covers almost the entire surface of the cover, is in the high position. This pressure piston 7 has by a hydraulic cylinder or the like is engaged by the user, and when going down pushes the cover 1 as well as the products 6 inside the container 3. At this time the folds 2 of the cover having exceeded the flaps 4 of the container 3 open due to their elasticity and press against the internal walls of the container.
La fig. 5 représente la remontée du piston presseur 7. Fig. 5 represents the ascent of the pressure piston 7.
It is therefore at this time that the lid, pushed upwards by the natural volume recovery of the compressed products 6 rises and that the folds of the lid are locked definitively under the flaps 4 forming the periphery of the container.
When this operation is finished, it suffices to take the closed container out of the enclosure of the appliance.
The fundamental difference with any other automatic closing mode lies essentially in the fact that a natural phenomenon is used in this system to close and permanently lock the packaging. This phenomenon is due solely to the composition of the contents of the packaging, and in particular to its compressibility or elasticity, which has the effect of causing this reaction. The advantage of this system lies above all in the fact that it does not require any technical means traditionally used for this type of closure (bonding, stapling, welding, crimping, etc.).
