Description

The subject of the present invention is an article made of synthetic material obtained by thermoforming a sheet and comprising breaking lines.

The article in question may, for example, consist of a container comprising several cells with breaking lines between the various cells, in order to allow them to be separated from one another, to use the contents separately. of each cell. A particular application of this type of article relates to the packaging of food products, such as yogurts, or dessert creams.

Traditionally, it is known to form predetermined breaking lines using a pre-marking knife which penetrates into the sheet during the thermoforming operation. This process does not offer very high reliability, because it very often causes ruptures outside the premarked area, near the walls of the article. In addition, containers with several cells, as defined above, are generally closed by a single aluminum cover, or complex in synthetic material, which has scratched lines, opposite the rupture lines. However, the provision of the scratching lines results in incipient fractures of the sheet of thermoformed synthetic material, insofar as the scratching line is not perfectly centered relative to the breaking line. Under these conditions, the separation of two cells becomes random because sometimes it is the premarking which causes the rupture, sometimes it is the more or less deep claw in the plastic which causes this rupture.

Document GB-A-976 398 relates to a container grouping device comprising a container retaining sheet having breaking lines making it possible to separate certain containers from one another. These rupture lines are formed, for example, by two V-shaped grooves arranged opposite. This technique ensures the formation of a hinge which, due to the molecular orientation obtained, locally strengthens the material by allowing it to flex but making it difficult to break. It is only after several rotational movements of the hinge and by exerting a traction on it that one succeeds in achieving the rupture.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks.

To this end, the synthetic article it relates to, obtained by thermoforming a sheet or by injection and comprising breaking lines each constituted by two opposite grooves, formed in the two faces of the sheet, is characterized in that one of the grooves has a profile general U-shape, while the opposite groove has a generally V-shaped profile.

These two grooves arranged facing each other ensure perfectly precise marking of the breaking line, ensuring that the separation between two parts of the same article is done well along a predetermined breaking line. The separation is done by tilting the two parts of the article along the rupture line, this tilting being done with the U-shaped groove located on the inside side, and the V-shaped groove located on the outside side the angle that is made to form the two parts of the package. It should be noted that according to the dimensions given to the two grooves, after a tear initiation at the level of the V-groove, the two right angles arranged on either side of the U-groove come to bear one against the other, and by a leverage effect ensure the rupture between the two parts of the article, along the pre-marked line, without possibility of drift.

The angle by which the two parts of the article must be pivoted, in order to separate them from one another, is advantageously less than 100 °. This arrangement of the grooves makes it possible to avoid the molecular orientation providing a hinge effect, which, combined with the leverage effect resulting from the support one on the other of the two edges delimiting the U-shaped groove, facilitates the rupture. As a result, it is possible to use materials having increased impact resistance and, consequently, to limit the thickness of the material used, which limits the effort to be exerted in order to achieve rupture.

The U-shaped groove of each breaking line is turned towards the side of the cover, in the case of an article comprising cells opening into the plane of a sheet of synthetic material, in which are formed, between the cells, the rupture lines, all the cells being closed by a single cover fixed on the sheet.

Another advantage of this process lies in the fact that after packaging of the product (s) in the different cells, and heat sealing of the closure seal, this seal can be pre-cut by scratching at the level of the U-shaped groove, so that that this operation does not affect the sheet of synthetic material in this area, which avoids all risks of incipient fractures parasites.

According to other characteristics of the invention, given below by way of example, the two wings of the V-groove form an angle less than or equal to 60 °, the width of the bottom of the V-groove is less than 0.1 mm, the width of the bottom of the U-shaped groove is greater than the width of the bottom of the V-shaped groove, the ratio between these two widths being of the order of two.

In addition, the depth of the U-shaped groove is less than the depth of the V-shaped groove, the cumulative depth of the U-shaped and V-shaped grooves being proportional to the thickness of the sheet constituting the article. Thus, for a sheet with a thickness of the order of 1 mm, the U-shaped groove has a depth of the order of 0.15 mm, and the V-shaped groove has a depth of the order of 0.20 mm.

  • Figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un article constitué par un emballage, par exemple pour yaourts, comportant quatre alvéoles ;
  • Figure 2 est une vue partielle de cet article, en coupe selon la ligne II-II de figure 1 ;
  • Figure 3 est une vue partielle de figure 2, le long de la rainure supérieure, après operculage au cours de l'opération de griffage de cet opercule ;
  • Figure 4 est une vue partielle de côté, au cours du mouvement de séparation de l'article en deux parties ;
In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of this article:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of an article consisting of a package, for example for yogurts, comprising four cells;
  • Figure 2 is a partial view of this article, in section along the line II-II of Figure 1;
  • Figure 3 is a partial view of Figure 2, along the upper groove, after sealing during the scratching operation of this seal;
  • Figure 4 is a partial side view, during the movement of separation of the article into two parts;
  • Figure 5 is a sectional view on an enlarged scale of the rupture line during its tearing movement.

As shown in the drawing, these four cells can be separated from one another, to form four independent containers. For this purpose, there are provided in the upper plane of the sheet of synthetic material, two cross breaking lines, designated by the general reference 5.

Each rupture line is constituted by a groove 6 opening into the upper face of the plate 3, and a groove 7 opening into the lower face of this same plate. The plastic sheet having in the embodiment shown in the drawing a thickness of 1 mm, the groove 6 has, for its part, a U-shaped section, with a width a of 0.2 mm, and a depth b of 0.15 mm.

For its part, the groove 7, disposed opposite the groove 6, and opening into the other face of the plate, has a general shape of V, the walls of which form an angle of the order of 60 °, the bottom of this groove having a width c of 0.1 mm, and the depth of this groove d being equal to 0.2 mm.

As shown in FIG. 3, after filling the cells, and sealing with the sheet 9, the sheet 9 is scratched at the breaking lines 5 using a knife 10. As shown in the drawing, this knife 10, if it ensures the precut of the sheet 9, absolutely does not reach the plate 3 of synthetic material, and therefore cannot produce incipient fractures at the level of the latter.

The two parts to be separated are tilted, by pivoting them around the rupture line considered, this pivoting being done with the groove 6 located at inside the angle formed by the two parts of the article, and the groove 7 outside this same angle. The V shape of the groove 7 favors the tearing of the material between the two grooves, the two right angles 12 located on either side of the U-shaped groove 6, coming to bear against one another, during this pivoting movement, which avoids any risk of drift from the tear 13 which remains perfectly centered between the two grooves 6 and 7.

As is apparent from the above, the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique, by providing an article produced from a thermoformed sheet or by injection, having perfectly marked breaking lines, obtained in a simple manner, using knives during the thermoforming operation. This double groove also has the advantage of avoiding any damage to the sheet of synthetic material by the tool for precutting the closure cap, since this tool penetrates inside the cap, at a groove.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this article, nor to its sole application described above by way of on the contrary, it embraces all the variant embodiments included in the scope of the claims.

Thus, in particular, the dimensions of the grooves which have been given above by way of examples could be different, without however departing from the scope of the invention.
