Abstract

The pump uses a membrane (12) actuated by hydraulic fluid driven by a piston pump, to inject the fuel into the engine. The multi-piston pump contains a central shaft (1) driving a rotary cam plate (2) which actuates the pistons and compresses their springs. As each piston performs its work it compresses the fluid in the chamber (9) beneath it to operate the membrane. The fuel pressure on the opposite side of the membrane shuts off the non-return valve (14), and the fuel is propelled into the engine cylinder through an injector. USE/ADVANTAGE - A petrol-driven i.c. engine injection pump, for use with a 2 or 4-stroke reciprocating or rotary engine. Eliminates pump seizure caused by fuel.
