Abstract

The invention provides a unique solution, for use as clothing and for sleeping, to the problems of thermal protection, psychological security and freedom of movement. Cover-all (swaddling clothes) consisting of a rectangular shape whose upper edge 1 has notches corresponding to the neck 2 and to the roots of the upper limbs 5 and whose lower edge 12, narrowed by stationary gathers 13, ends in a belt band 14, extended laterally 15, of a length which is sufficient to go round the child's chest after crossing at the back, passing through a securing orifice 18. The whole assembly is held at the shoulders by buttoning or other fastenings and fixed by knotting of the front belt. The device according to the invention produces, by its successive combinations, in its upper part 9 a sort of sleeveless wrap-type baby's vest, crossed in front, and, in its lower part 11, an enclosing pouch at a distance from the lower half of the body.

Description

 The swaddling clothes, the clothing of infants for millennia, are traditionally made up of a rectangular piece of fabric whose folding around the child's body, fixed by safety pins, causes a damaging restraint of the entire lower hemicorps.

 The swaddles of recent creation are either textile bags preformed by sewing, or combinations adjusted to the lower hemibody which require unpleasant introductory maneuvers for the baby.

 The present invention aims to eliminate these drawbacks and to provide a unique solution to the traditionally contradictory requirements of safety and freedom of movement of the infant.

 In addition, by combining its design, clothing use with that of sleeping, it reduces the frequency of clothing operations and the risk of thermal discontinuity.

 The diaper of the invention is intended for infants from zero to a few months.

It is made, in one piece, in a fabric that is easily machine washable, non-allergenic, neither heavy nor soft.

 Its shape and dimensions are such that the child is placed in the middle of its upper part, the diaper is folded twice to make, in its upper part, a swimsuit cover and in its lower part a pocket large enough to leave any freedom of movement in the lower limbs.

 The swaddling of the diaper to the child is ensured, on the shoulders by buttoning or other appropriate fixing, and around the thorax by a knotted band.

 These two very simple attachment systems are as easy to implement as to undo.

 The drawings below are given only as an illustration of the subject of the invention, to facilitate understanding. They cannot, in any way, constitute a limiting description of the invention.

Figure I shows the unfolded diaper: it fits flat in a rectangular textile shape which presents the following essential elements to be described:
An upper edge (1) cut, symmetrically with respect to its middle, from the center towards the periphery, by a wide notch (2) corresponding to the base of the neck, a posterior shoulder tab (3) presenting at the end of its posterior face a simple attachment system (4), a deep notch (5) corresponding to the root of the upper limbs, an anterior shoulder tab (6) intended to be joined to the adjacent posterior shoulder tab (3 ) by a simple fixing (7) corresponding to the fastener (4), a cut or rounded cut (8) making a neckline by crossing with its opposite symmetrical.

 An upper zone (9) going from the upper edge at the top to a line (10) at the bottom corresponding to the umbilical level of the child.

 A lower area (11) of rectangular shape.

A lower edge (12) narrowed by non-elastic fixed gathers (13) and bordered by a band (14) for use as a belt which extends laterally (15) of sufficient length to go around the child's chest before being tied.

 Figure 2 shows the folding of the invention in two stages: (16) flap of the lateral parts on the front then; (17) flap of the lower part on the front, bringing the belt band (14) up to the axillary hollow; its ends (15) going to cross in the back by passing through the connection orifice (18) before being brought forward for knotting (19).

 The level of folding (17) takes place at an optimal distance from the child's feet.

It varies according to its growth, so that the belt band is always applied a little below the axillary level.

 Figure 3 is a 3/4 side view showing, on a diaper in situation, the attachment to the shoulders (4) and (7) and the knotting forward (19).

Referring to Figures 1,2 and 3, we see that the diaper of the invention consists of folds (16) and (17) of two adjoining parts and no solution of continuity between them, but however very different in their nature and their function
An upper part (9) in the form of a sleeveless brassiere, very indented under the arms (5), crossed in front and whose front (6) and rear (3) parts are assembled on the shoulders by buttoning (4) (7) or any other suitable simple fastening system.

 This zone can be provided with a doubling to increase its thermal capacities.

 A pocket-shaped lower part (11), the gathered upper orifice (12) is applied to the thorax by lightly tightening the belt band (14) knotted at its ends (15).

 This pocket flares from top to bottom so that its walls, unlined, offering only a very low resistance to the lower limbs allows them all movements of great amplitude.

 The present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and shown below.

It extends to all variants of shape, material, dimension and fasteners as they contain the whole of the invention.

Claims (8)

REVDIDICATIONS  1) Diaper characterized in that it is constituted by a rectangular shape whose upper edge (1) has notches corresponding to the neck (2) and the roots of the upper limbs (5) and whose lower edge (12) narrows by gathers (13), is terminated by a belt band (14) which extends laterally (15) of a sufficient length to go around the child's chest before being tied (19).  2) Lange, according to claim 1, characterized in that it achieves in its upper part (9), by folding (16) of the lateral parts on the front, a kind of sleeveless cover-up bra, very indented under the arms (5), crossed in front, and retained on the shoulders by buttoning (4) (7) or any other simple fixing system.  3) Diaper, according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that it achieves, in its lower part (11), by successive folds (16) and (17) a pocket enveloping at a distance the lower hemibody and applied to the thorax by various means of attachment.  4) Diaper, according to claims 1 and 3, characterized in that its lower edge (12) is narrowed by non-elastic fixed gathers (13).  5) Diaper, according to claims 1, 3 and 4, characterized in that its gathered bottom edge (12) is terminated by a band for use as a belt (14).  6) Diaper, according to claims I and 3 to 5, characterized in that the crossing of the ends (15) of its belt band (14) is carried out, under the child, by passing through a securing orifice (18) avoiding the stripping of one side part with respect to the other.  7) Diaper, according to claims 1 to 6 characterized in that its belt band (14) is extended laterally (15) by a length allowing by knotting in front (19) after crossing in the back, securing and application to the chest of the child.  8) Diaper, according to claim I characterized in that its upper part (9) can be provided with a lining to increase the thermal capacities.
