Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device provided with corresponding accessories for transforming a motorcycle-scooter into a vehicle suitable for operating on snowy terrain, without however altering any of the essential characteristics of the scooter, -as well as to allow, once the use of the means of transport on snow, to bring it back to the original operating state.
In the sector of mechanical means of transport capable of moving without difficulty on snowy terrain, there are already vehicles designed exclusively for this use, such as sledges with propellers or so-called "snow cats" vehicles. Because of their construction characteristics, these means of transport can only operate on snow only and must therefore be considered, also because of their high cost, as professional means which require to be transported on the road with trolleys or In addition, because of their large central track or the side tracks rigidly applied to the structure of the vehicle, these means can only act on routes inclined transversely, or on hills, only within certain fairly limited limits. , surpassing those for which there is infallibly the danger of overturning. In an attempt to at least partially overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, a two-wheeled crawler motor vehicle has already appeared on the market intended for use outside the route and which can be adapted, from time to time, to the necessities imposed by walking on snow, resorting to he grip teeth to be fixed in addition to the relatively relatively narrow track, this solution or (replacement) having however absolutely not resolved the problem in question and, in particular, walking on snowy terrain, inclined transversely. It has therefore proved to be interesting to study a solution capable of satisfying a wider range of requirements, without however going beyond the economic limits from which the possibility of a desirable dissemination of the object would be compromised. .
As a more suitable basic means of transport, the scooter appeared which, with its current level of improvement and reliability, presents many practical advantages of adaptability. Indeed, especially because the wheels thereof are applied cantilevered by means of fixing bolts as is customary on automobiles (that is to say not enclosed between a fork), said scooter lends itself favorably to the type of transformation developed in the meantime and which is the subject of the present invention.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the type mentioned above at the start which avoids the aforementioned drawbacks.
Essentially, the device proposed according to the invention comprises a small adaptation chassis equipped with a loose mounted track, a drum hub containing a reduction and inversion mechanism intended to be applied in place of the original bearing the rear wheel of the scooter, a driving gear intended to be fixed in place of said rear wheel and intended, according to one of the main characteristics of the system, to actuate the track by engaging in it the exterior, instead of the interior as usual, thereby allowing the track a certain freedom of inclination, the assembly being completed by a steering shoe intended to be mounted in place of the front wheel.

As can clearly be seen in the Figures, the device of the invention essentially comprises the rear track carrier carriage provided with a corresponding reverse-gear mechanism, mounted in place of the rear wheel and the steering shoe mounted in place of the front wheel. The rear carriage consists of a cradle-shaped chassis 1 intended for easy attachment to the scooter using the coupling points of the engine (not shown) and the rear shock absorber 2 so as to keep unchanged the vehicle's original suspension system. Two forks la-lb are centrally fixed on two forks 3 and 4 able to each carry a idler wheel guide track 5-6. Longitudinally, between said two forks, is fixed oscillating a bar 7 carrying both sides and d 'other a number of wheels of smaller diameter 8 arranged in parallel and capable of operating as multiple rollers intended to cooperate in the absorption of the bearing load of the scooter which is shown schematically in ia Figure 1 as indicative. The track, which can be seen in Figure 4, is constituted by a ring 9 in the form of a flat belt made of rubberized fabric or other suitable material. Said belt centrally has a continuous alignment of equidistant openings 10 perforated with a punch -piece, having dimensions and a pitch corresponding to the toothing of the control wheel 11 forming part of the reduction mechanism -inverter mounted in place of the rear wheel of the vehicle as described below in more detail. Between a perforated opening 10 and the next, the belt 9 carries, in a fixed manner, grip crosspieces 12 each made of a material constituted by a metal angle which presents centrally, at the location at which the teeth of the wheel are intended to intervene. control gear 11, a short lowered section 12a capable of promoting operating cooperation with said gear 11. As can best be seen on the
Figure 5, said wheel, which is mounted on a suitable drum hub containing the reversing-reducing mechanism (not shown) intended to be mounted without special operations in place of the original drum hub, is constituted by a rim metal to which a toothed ring ila made of superpolyamide or other similar material is securely fixed capable of withstanding the actuation stress exerted by the toothed wheel 11 and which meshes, from the outside, in the track-belt, that is to say - to say contrary to what normally occurs, this representing an essential characteristic of the invention. I1 is provided that the cross members 12 slightly protrude from the sides of the track, so that the latter reaches, as a whole, a width substantially equal to that of the scooter. Inside, in order to achieve perfect guidance in the transverse direction of the track, at the location of the rear or the back or of the crosspieces 12, pairs of rubber or metal profile battens 13 are fixed, between which slide the wheels 5, 6 and 8. To obtain increased efficiency, it is further emphasized that the crosspieces 12 can be folded back, at their ends, so as to constitute the transverse gripping teeth 12b, capable of ensuring walking stability and greater lateral hold when the vehicle is traveling transversely on sloping ground. To obtain, on the other hand, a regular tension of the track and a better functioning thereof, there is finally provided a roller 14 which acts in tensioner mode belt, but which mainly has the function of driving the track so as to improve the angle of engagement of the toothed wheel 11 thereon.
An essential prerogative of the device described according to the invention is that, thanks to the oscillating system for fixing the support bar 7 provided with a corresponding plurality of pairs of wheels 8, the track 9 has the possibility of tilting within certain limits relative to the perpendicular plane of the scooter, that is to say that the latter thus has the ability to evolve with a correct vertical attitude even if the terrain is constituted by a slope inclined transversely.
With regard to the front steering pad 15, it can be observed that this consists of a mono-ski type element with lower guide hull and perpendicular upper blade 16 produced so as to be able to fix the assembly in place from the front wheel of the scooter, using the original locking bolts. The shoe is completed by a spring-loaded stabilizing rod 17 intended to be anchored to the coupling bolts of the vehicle mudguard, so as to ensure that the latter always retains its correct operating position.
