Abstract

This packaging, of the tray type, makes it possible to solve a problem with stacked trays, the trays having products extending beyond their returns 3 and 6 by virtue of the overhang 20 of the returns 12 and of the parts 15. This overhang enables the bottom tray to be caught on a pallet and enables the stacked trays to be caught on the overhanging products.

Description

TRAY WITH LOWER LOCK
The present invention relates to a tray with lower blocking.

 There are currently on the market some packaging called "Trays"; these packages are of parallelelipipedic shape and include: I bottom, 2 length-side returns, 2 width-side returns, these trays being of semi-rigid material and generally made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard.

 Before use, the returns must be straightened to 90 relative to the bottom and joined together to be able to maintain themselves in this position.

We will mention two solutions, the most common among a set of feasible solutions, to secure the returns of a tray, namely
- by gluing or stapling the reentrants, the reentrants being the leading parts of two opposite returns, length or width; this packaging described here, being commonly called "FEFCO 0300 or 0301 bell box bottom";
- by twists, that is to say by blocking the re-entrants, by returns being in extensions of two opposite returns, returns coming to lock inside the bottom "FEFCO 0422 or 423".

 Such trays are commonly used for example at points of sale; large trays are used for shipping bottles and shelf display; a base tray is placed on a pallet with bottles the height of which exceeds the height of the tray returns and several full trays are superimposed on the base tray.

 It is necessary to send these sets in plastic covers because during handling the trays have no stability.

 If in many cases the plastic cover must remain, if only for dust protection it seems interesting to find a solution allowing the joining of a lower plate, if only for good stability during filling and handling; the products are of course not limited to bottles.

To solve this problem, a solution has already been adopted. It consists in joining the outside bottom of a tray by gluing to the outside bottom of another tray
But this solution is expensive because each tray must have its complementary tray.

 The present invention differs from the known solutions by the new shape of the plate, of a design other than all the plates produced to date; tray coming to fit on the products of the lower tray, thanks to a planking of two opposite faces not inside as mentioned above, but outside, planking with returns to 90 'on the 2 other sides, planking in protruding from the bottom of the plate.

 The tray according to the invention is made up of a square or rectangular bottom and two returns on two opposite sides of the bottom, a repressure will be present between the bottom and each of these two opposite returns and this to allow the straightening to 90 'of these returns. The other two sides of the bottom also have returns, a backflow is also present between each of these returns and the bottom; these two repressions are located between the first two repressions already mentioned and beyond these repressions of the slots separate the first two opposite returns from the other two. As an extension of each of the two opposite returns cited second in our description, two parallel repressions , whose repressed parts will be on the outside of the packaging, therefore unlike the four repressions already mentioned, as an extension of the two parallel repressures, a return whose extension is greater than the return from which it is separated by the refoulings.

The two upsets of the two opposite returns, first mentioned in this paragraph, extend over the other two opposite returns, the parts between the parallel upsets close together and the returns in extension of these parallel upsets. The groove direction when using corrugated cardboard is perpendicular to the extended returns.

To make such packaging, there are two solutions in cardboard
- Make these trays on machines that make slots from 5 to 8 mm and grooves always parallel or 900 relative to the others, without the possibility of offset grooves. This will be the case represented by our drawings in appendices
- make trays on a cutting press and everything is possible as for the offset of the upsets relative to a straight line, holes, perforations facilitating folding, slots with for example 2 non-parallel cuts this to clarify that our drawings in the appendix are not not limiting, but that variants of forms can be made without departing from the invention.

 Extended returns can be joined together by stapling or gluing for ease of assembly by the customer.

A belt (not visible in the drawing) could be placed around the or the products (for products of low stability, for a product deposited in a pasty state - rubber - etc ....)
In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the attached schematic drawings, representing by way of example, a non-limiting form of this packaging.
Figure 1 is a view of a partially folded sidewall from which is made the plate.

 Figure 2 is a view of the tray with extended returns folded at I800 against each other and secured by stapling.

 Figure 3 is a view of the tray during assembly.

 Figure 4 is a view of the mounted tray.

 The sidewall (1) shown in Figure 1 is intended to form a tray. This sidewall 11) comprises: a square or rectangular bottom (2), returns (3), between these returns (3) and the bottom (2) of the grooves (4); the grooves (5) in the case of corrugated cardboard, will be parallel to these grooves (4). The bottom (2) is extended on these two other sides by returns (6), between these returns (6) and the bottom (2) of the upsets (7), the height of the returns (6) will be substantially equal to the height of the returns (3) or a few mm higher to allow mounting of the plate, at the top of these returns (6) re-entrants (8), between these returns (6) and these re-entrants (8) of the upsets (9), these upsets (9) will be extensions of the upsets (4) or offset inwards to allow better mounting, extension of the returns (6) two push-backs (10) whose push-back parts will be on the outside of the plate, that is to say unlike the push-backs (4) and (7), the spacing (11) between the upsets (10) will depend on the thickness of the cardboard used, once the returns (6) and (12) put in parallel, there must remain a distance roughly equivalent to the thickness of the cardboard used and preferably a little less, at the head of the parts (11) of the parts (13) corresponding to the extensions of the reentrants (8), the parts (14) located between (11) and (13) could be perforated to facilitate assembly, as an extension of the parts (11) of the returns (12), the extension of which is a function of the overflowing part of the bottom (mounted tray), at the head of the returns (12) of the parts (15) of the refoulures (16) pushed back on the 'outside of the cardboard, (if the side is cut on a press) they can be an extension of the grooves (4) and (9) or offset towards the outside with respect to the grooves (4) to facilitate assembly but in this case a perforation is required in (14). The slots (I7) separating the returns (3) and the reentrants (8) can be made with a single cut or two cuts generally spaced 5 to 8 mm apart, but depending on the machines on which the side will be cut, this slot may have another form facilitating assembly of the packaging. The repressions can be replaced by perforated lines.

 Figure 2 shows the side (1) with the returns (3) raised relative to the bottom (2) to the bottom (2), the returns (6) were secured to the returns (12) by staples (18, this could be done by gluing, the parts (8) are not secured to the parts (15), this stapling or gluing operation is easy for the customer to mount1 and it is optional.

 FIG. 3 represents the plate during assembly the returns (3) have been straightened to 900 relative to the bottom (2), the returns (12) have been previously pressed against the returns (6), before straightening the returns (6) and (12) the parts (8) and (15) will have been folded 900 with respect to these returns, then the heads of the returns (3) will be engaged in the housings (19) between (15) and (8) in straightening the returns (6) and (12) and (8) and (15) thanks to the upsets (7). To facilitate mounting, the plates can be arranged in a template so that the returns (3) are kept in a vertical position.

 FIG. 4 represents the plate in the final mounting position, the returns (3), (6), (12), (8) and (15) are positioned at 900 relative to the bottom (2); the returns (12) and the parts (15) are overflowing from the bottom (2) the overflow corresponding to (20), this overflow (20) should not be greater than the height of a pallet or any other support on which will have been positioned the tray, this overflow (20) can not be greater than the exceeding of the products in the tray.

The base plate will therefore be positioned on a pa
lette or any other support, if the pallet is well adapted in size, the tray will no longer be able to unlock, it will be impossible for it to take the position of the figure (3) this tray will be filled with its products, products therefore exceeding returns (3) and (6), a second plate will be positioned on the first and as for the latter, the extensions (12) and (15) corresponding to the overflow (20) will come to hang on the products in excess of the lower plate.

 The invention therefore makes it possible to solve a problem of securing trays in superposition, trays having products in excess of their upper returns and also securing the base tray to its support (pallet for example).

Claims (4)

 1 - Tray in semi-rigid material, such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard for example, used for products exceeding the returns (3) and (6); characteristic in that the returns (6) and re-entrants (8) have extensions (11) and (13) themselves extended by the returns (12) and parts (15); characteristic in that the reentrants (8) and the parts (15) after folding back to 90 * relative to the returns (6) come to sandwich the heads of the returns (3) thanks to the housings (19); characteristic in that the overflow (20) of the returns (12) and of the parts (15) relative to the bottom makes it possible to secure the first tray to the base support (pallet for example) and then the trays superimposed on the overflowing products returns (3) and (6).  2 - Tray according to claim 1, characterized in that the grooves can be offset relative to the straight line, mainly for the grooves (4) (9) and (16), the slots (17) have two cuts, parallel or not and be of different shape to the accompanying drawings, the tray include holes and perforations and all this in order to facilitate assembly.  3 - Plateu according to claims 1 and 2 in that the returns (6) can be secured to the returns (12) by gluing or stapling.  4 - Tray according to claims 1, 2 and 3 in that a belt of the approximate height of the products could be arranged around them.
