Abstract

This clip comprises a casing 1 which is open on its two end faces, a hollow piston 4 accommodated in the casing, where it is held by stops 2, 6, 9, closed at least partially at one 5 of its ends and the other end and the lateral wall of which are partially notched in order to permit the introduction of a button 11 into the piston which is capable of sliding axially in the casing between a rest position, in which it closes off a first end face of the casing, and a position of insertion of the button, in which it is partially outside the casing, beyond the second end face of the latter, so as to have its notched regions outside, this sliding taking place against the action of a spring 8, returning it towards the said rest position, accommodated between the casing and the piston, and through the action of a pressure F exerted on the closed end 5 of the piston when the clip is positioned on the button, relaxation of the pressure trapping the button in the clip, designed to have a decorative appearance.

Description

 The subject of the present invention is a clip intended to come removably to cover a button of clothing for decorating it and, inter alia, a button of wrist of shirt or blouse.

 The simple wrist, called straight, of a shirt or blouse is closed with a button and a buttonhole, while the cuffed wrist, called "musketeer", more dressed, is closed with '' a cufflink, more decorative than an ordinary button.

 The present invention aims to give a more elegant appearance to any button of clothing, and in particular to a right wrist button.

 For this purpose, it relates to a clip, capable of being removably mounted on a button to embellish it and characterized in that it comprises a shoemaker open on its two faces at the end, a hollow piston, housed in the case where it is retained by stops, closed at least partially at one of its ends and whose other end and the side wall are partially notched to allow the introduction of a button inside this hollow piston, which is able to slide axially in the case between a rest position where it at least partially closes a first face at the end of the case by its closed end and a button insertion position where it is partially outside the case , beyond the second end face thereof, so as to present its notched regions on the outside, this sliding being effected against the action of a return spring towards said position of rest, housed between the housing and the piston , and under the effect of a pressure exerted on the at least partially closed end of the piston, when the clip is placed on the button, the release of the pressure trapping the button in the clip, and the notch provided in one end of the piston being such that the button and the clip remain integral until a new pressure is exerted on the closed end of the piston, this button cover clip being designed to be decorative by its general shape, its material or the ornamentation of its external faces.

The clip may have any external shape, for example circular, polygonal or pure fantasy; internally the cylindrical shape is preferred. It can be of any precious metal or not, or covered with a gold or silver plating or glued ornaments or with a painted, lacquered, fabric, mother-of-pearl,
ceramic etc. It can also be made of variously colored plastic
and adorned. The parts that compose it can be manufactured by
bar turning, stamping, milling, or molding.

The piston retaining stops in the housing can be a first stop constituted by an internal rim of the first face at the open end of the case, a second stop constituted by a washer fixed internally around the periphery of the second face.

The fixing of the washer can be obtained by gluing, screwing, crimping by folding down on the washer of the edge of said second end face, or any other suitable means. The washer can be replaced by a square return from the edge of said second
face at the end of the case, formed by stamping. Preferably,
the outer edge of the washer has a bevel or shoulder
and the internal edge of said second end face has a spur
to facilitate crimping and stamping, when these
techniques are used.

The return spring can be housed in the case around the
piston, between said outer rim of the closed end of the udder
tone, on which it is supported, and said washer or said return
square constituting the second stop, against which the spring
is compressed when the piston is pushed out of the case. This
spring can be, for example, a coil spring, or washers
the superimposed corrugated metal spring.

This clip can be used as a cufflink

The clip comprises a housing 1 open on its two end faces. It has an internal rim 2 on its end face, which is its right side, and an internal shoulder 3 thinning the edge of its other end face, which is its reverse face.
In this housing is housed a hollow piston 4, closed at its end 5, which is its right side and which has an external annular rim 6, while its other end, which is its reverse side, is notched so that it only an internal annular edge portion 7 extending over a little more than half of the circumference of the piston. The side wall of the piston is also notched at 12, over a little more. half of its periphery, so that the notched regions of the reverse end face and of the lateral wall of the piston are located on the same side of the latter, as can be clearly seen in FIGS. 4 and 5.

 The piston is housed in the housing, as shown in FIG. 1, the external rim 6 of its face 5 facing the internal rim 2 of the end face> place, of the housing> and the heights of the two parts are such that the reverse sides of the housing and the piston are at the same level.

 A coil spring 8 of suitable diameter is inserted between the housing 1 and the piston 4.I1 bears on the external rim 6 of the piston and is retained in the housing, together with the piston, by means of a washer 9 having an external shoulder 10. The washer 9 has a diameter such that it fits exactly between the piston and the casing coming to bear on the internal shoulder 3 from the edge of the end face> upside down, from the bot- tier 1. The washer 9 is fixed in this position by folding down according to the arrows f from the end of this face to the end of the tier edge on the shoulder 10 of the washer. The spring 8 is thus trapped.

 Figures 1 and 2 show the possible axial sliding movement of the piston 4 in the housing 1. By applying pressure along the arrow F on the closed end 5 of the piston, the spring 8 is compressed, which flattens against the washer 9 and the piston 4 is partially pulled out of the housing on the reverse side of the clip, the internal rim 2 of the case, the washer 9 and the external rim 6 of the piston constituting the retaining stops of the latter in the housing.

 FIG. 2 illustrates how a button 11, shown in broken lines, can be introduced along the arrow f1 into the clip in the open position, inside the raised piston 4.

When the pressure exerted according to F is released, the piston enters the housing (fig.l). The clip is closed and traps the button, which can then move between the closed end 5 of the piston and its opposite washer portion 7 ; but it cannot escape, because this washer portion 7 extends over more than one. half the circumference of the piston. On the other hand, the fact that the notch in the lateral wall of the piston extends over more than half of the periphery of the latter makes it quite easy to insert the button into the open clip. Of course, the size of the clip is adapted to that of the button.

 The arrows f2 and f3 show the possible directions of translation of the button ll inside the piston 4 and the arrow f4 indicates the direction of withdrawal of the button from the piston, when the clip is open.

 The clip is essentially intended to adorn the button, its decorative faces, which can be embellished in any known way, being the external lateral surface of the housing 1 and the external face of the closed end 5 of the piston.

 Modifications of detail in the field of technical equivalents can be made to the clip described above, without departing from the scope of the invention. Clest as well as the retaining stops of the piston in the housing can be in the form of lugs, fingers or tongues, and that the end 5 of the piston can be in the form of a grid or a perforated or hollowed wall instead of 'be a solid wall.

Claims (6)

 - CLAIMS  l.- Clip capable of being removably mounted on a button to embellish it, which is in particular a shirt wrist button, characterized in that it comprises a housing (1) open on its two end faces , a hollow piston (4), housed in the housing where it is retained by stops (2,6,9), closed at least partially at one (5) of its ends and whose other end and the wall side are partially notched to allow the introduction of a button (11) inside this hollow piston, which is capable of sliding axially in the case between a rest position where it at least partially seals a first end face of the case by its closed end (5) and a position for inserting the button where it is partially outside the case, beyond the second end face thereof, so as to present its regions on the outside notched, this sliding being effected against the action of a spring (8) returning towards said p rest position, housed between the housing and the piston, and under the effect of a pressure (F) exerted on the at least partially closed end (5) of the piston, when the clip is placed on the button, the release of the pressure trapping the button in the clip, and the notch provided in one of the ends of the piston being such that the button and the clip remain integral until a new pressure is exerted on the 'closed end of the piston, this button cover clip being designed to be decorative by its general shape, its material or the ornamentation of its external faces.  2.- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that the piston retaining stops (4) in the housing (1) are a first stop constituted by an internal flange (2) of the first face at the open end of the housing, a second stop constituted by a washer (9) fixed internally on the periphery of the second face at the open end of the housing, and a third stop constituted by an external rim (6) cooperating with the closed end (5) of the piston.  3. Clip according to claim 2, characterized in that said washer (9) is replaced by a square return from the edge of said second face at the end of the housing, formed by stamping.  4. Clip according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the outer edge of the washer (9) has a bevel or a shoulder (10) and the inner edge of said second end face has a shoulder (3) to facilitate the crimping of the washer by said folded edge or the square bend of this edge by stamping.  5. Clip according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the return spring 8 is housed in the housing (1) around the piston (4), between said outer flange (6) of the closed end (5) of the piston, on which it bears, and said washer (9) or said return square constituting the second stop, against which the spring is compressed, when the piston is pushed out of the housing.  6. Clip according to claim 5, characterized in that said return spring (8) is a coil spring.
