Abstract

The invention relates to a display package of the type formed from a blank folded over itself into a sleeve around the items 20 to be packaged. According to the invention, the bottom panel 12 of this blank is lined with a decorative panel 27 which is an integral part of the assembly and bearing printing 34 which is visible by transparency through the items 20 concerned. The present invention relates generally to the packaging of any articles, and in particular translucent articles, for example, articles of baking, and it relates more particularly to the case where this packaging is done using 'display packaging, intended not only to preserve the item (s) concerned during their transport, but also to allow their presentation to the public at their point of sale.

 More particularly still, the present invention relates to the case where such a display packaging is formed from a blank closed on itself in a sheath around the article or articles concerned, said blank comprising, in one piece, successively articulated to each other. other around transverse fold lines, a plurality of panels, namely, one panel, said here for convenience, bottom panel, two panels, said here for convenience, intermediate panels, which are respectively arranged on each side of said bottom panel, and a panel, said here for simple convenience, facade panel, which extends beyond one of said intermediate panels with respect to said bottom panel, in cooperation with locking means capable of keeping closed on it - even in a sheath such a blank.

 In practice, this blank is usually made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, or other sheet material, which is suitably cut and grooved, and of which only one side, said here for convenience on the front side, is of sufficiently noble quality to be able to to carry any impression, and, for example, any decoration or information.

 Of course, this front face of the initial blank constitutes the external face, directly visible, of the various panels of the display packaging which subsequently results therefrom.

 In practice, too, the front panel of such a display package has cutouts, which, while being able to ensure the retention of the article or articles concerned in a suitable manner, leaves directly at least a portion of those -this.

 Consequently, in the case of translucent articles, the bottom panel of the display packaging is itself at least partially visible, by transparency, through these articles.

 I1 emerges from the above that the face of this bottom panel thus visible by transparency is formed by the back side of the initial blank.

 To date, this back side is usually not of sufficient quality to carry any impression.

 However, in particular for the implementation of particularly elaborate decorations, it may on the contrary be desirable, at least for certain applications, and this is the case for example for the packaging of articles of baking, that the bottom panel of the 'display packaging used for this packaging also carries an impression, to be seen through transparency through such articles.

 The difficulty in this case is twofold.

 First of all, it is normally important that the back side of the initial blank is also of sufficiently noble quality to be able to receive an impression.

 This results in a significant increase in the material to be used for the constitution of such a blank, to the detriment of the cost price of the assembly.

 In addition, this blank thus having to receive an impression on both of its faces, that is to say both on its reverse side and on its front side, its printing proves to be particularly expensive, further damage to the cost price of the assembly, because it requires a recovery, for passage from one of the faces to the other, and that, from one of these faces to the other, it is necessary to proceed to markings, so that, on the display packaging finally obtained, the impression (s) appearing on the front side, for example that affecting the front panel, are correctly in concordance with those appearing on the reverse side, in practice that affecting the bottom panel.

 The present invention generally relates to a provision making it possible to avoid these drawbacks.

 More specifically, it firstly relates to display packaging, in particular for translucent article (s), of the kind formed by a blank closed on itself in a sheath around the said item or items, said blank comprising, in one piece, successively articulated to each other around transverse fold lines, a plurality of panels, namely, a bottom panel, two intermediate panels, which are each respectively arranged on either side of said panel bottom, and a front panel, which extends beyond one of said intermediate panels with respect to said bottom panel, in cooperation with locking means capable of keeping closed in itself in a sheath such blank, this display packaging being generally characterized in that that of the intermediate panels which is on the side of the bottom panel opposite the front panel is extended by a lining panel, which is superimposed on it, and which extends to it -m even by a decoration panel superimposed on at least part of the bottom panel; it also relates to a blank of cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, suitably cut and scored, suitable for constituting such a display package.

 Thanks to the arrangement according to the invention, a conventional material, having only one side in sufficiently noble quality to withstand printing can, advantageously, and economically, be used.

 Indeed, the bottom panel then being doubled by a decoration panel folded over it, it is the front side of this decoration panel, and no longer the back side of the bottom panel, which, in the display packaging obtained , is visible by transparency through the article (s) concerned.

 In addition, since only the front side of the initial blank is therefore to be taken into account, it is the only one to be printed.

 The printing of the initial blank can therefore be done, advantageously, and economically, without reorise or tracking.

 It follows overall from these two advantages that, despite a higher consumption of surface area of material, the arrangement according to the invention leads to significantly more economical display packaging, - in proportions greater than 10% and most often close to 20%, that display packaging of the same type formed from a blank, both of which have an imprint.

 -As illustrated in these figures, a blank 10 according to the invention comprises, in one piece, successively articulated to each other around transverse fold lines 11, which, conventionally, have been shown diagrammatically by dashes , a plurality of panels, namely, in particular, a panel 12, said here for simple convenience, bottom panel, two panels 13, 13 ′, said here for simple convenience, intermediate panels, which are each respectively arranged on either side of the bottom panel 12, and a panel 14, said here for simple convenience, facade panel, which extends beyond one of the intermediate panels 13, 13 ′ in this case the intermediate panel 13 intended, as well as 'It will appear below, to form the base of the corresponding display packaging, in cooperation with locking means, detailed below, suitable for keeping such a blank 10 closed on itself in a sheath.

 In the embodiment shown, the panels 12, 13, 13 'and 14, which form a single alignment, all have a rectangular outline, with two of their opposite sides formed by the transverse fold lines 11, and, being of the constitution of a display package with a generally parallelepiped outline, the bottom panel 12 has generally the same dimensions as the front panel 14, while the intermediate panels 13, 13 ′ have, overall, the same dimensions with each other.

 Furthermore, in this embodiment, the locking means used comprise a closure panel 15, which, in alignment with the previous ones, extends the front panel 14 on the side thereof opposite the intermediate panel 13 ' , and in which is cut at least one tab 16 adapted to cooperate in locking with a cutout 17 provided for this purpose in correspondence in the other intermediate panel 13.

 In practice, this closure panel 15 itself has generally the same dimensions as the intermediate panels 13, 13 ′, and two tabs 16 are provided there, at a distance from each other, along its free edge parallel to the transverse fold lines 11.

 At the same time, the corresponding cutouts 17 of the intermediate panel 13 adjoin by one of their sides the transverse fold line 11 separating the latter from the bottom panel 12.

 In practice, these are rectangular cutouts.

 The front panel 14 comprises at least one cutout 19 capable of ensuring adequate retention of an article 20 to be packaged, while leaving a part of it visible.

 In practice, in the embodiment shown, the invention is applied to the packaging of glass tumblers 20, and it is planned to jointly provide such packaging for a group of three tumblers 20, aligned parallel to each other, transversely relative to the various constituent panels of the corresponding blank 10.

 The front panel 14 therefore comprises three cutouts 19.

 In practice, each of them comes from the transverse fold line 11 separating this front panel 14 from the intermediate panel 13 'which is adjacent to it, and, locally interrupting this transverse fold line 11, it takes care, in the same plane of the intermediate panel 13 ', in continuity with the latter, a tab 21.

 Likewise, by connecting by cutting lines 22 to the transverse fold line 11 separating the front panel 14 from the closure panel 15, each of the cutouts 19 that this front panel 14 provides, in correspondence with the tab 21 previous, a tab 23, which locally interrupting said transverse fold line 11, is in continuity with this closure panel 15, in the plane thereof.

 Together, and in correspondence with the cutouts 19 of the front panel 14, the intermediate panel 13 has cutouts 25, each having a crescent-like appearance.

 These provisions are well known in themselves, and not being in themselves part of the present invention, they will not be described in more detail here.

 According to the invention, that, 13, of the intermediate panels 13, 13 ′, which is on the side of the bottom panel 12 opposite the front panel 14 is extended, in alignment with the previous ones, by a lining panel 26, which it is superimposable, and which itself also extends into the alignment of the previous ones, by a decoration panel 27 which can be superimposed on at least part of the bottom panel 12.

 According to provisions similar to the preceding, the lining panel 26 is connected by a transverse fold line 11 to the intermediate panel 13 with which it is associated, and the decoration panel 27 is itself connected by a transverse fold line 11 to this lining panel 26.

 Overall, the lining panel 26 has dimensions substantially equal to those of the intermediate panel 13 with which it is associated.

 In practice, the crescent cutouts 25 presented by this intermediate panel 16 extend from the transverse fold line 11 separating it from the lining panel 26, and, locally interrupting this transverse fold line 11, they spare, in the plane of this lining panel 26, and in continuity therewith, lugs 29, which, arranged in correspondence with the lugs 23 further extending the closure panel 15, are each respectively superimposable thereon.

 In addition, in the lining panel 26, there is provided, in correspondence with each of the cutouts 17 of the intermediate panel 13, the same cutout 30, that is to say a cutout with the same outline gu'une such cutout 17 and su perposableà this one.

 The lining panel 26 therefore has two cutouts 30, of rectangular shape, and each of these adjoins by one of its sides the transverse fold line 11 connecting it to the decoration panel 27, locally interrupting this fold line transverse 11.

 The decoration panel 27, for its part, has, in the embodiment shown, dimensions sufficient for it to be able to extend over the entire bottom panel 12.

 In practice, however, its width is slightly less than that of this bottom panel 12, moreover taking into account the folds occurring, as will appear below, between it and the latter.

 The blank 10 thus formed can be made of any sheet material, suitably cut and grooved, its crease lines constituting its articulation lines.

 It may for example be cardboard.

 In the embodiment shown, and as left visible at an angle thanks to a cutaway in Figure 1, it is corrugated cardboard.

 According to the invention, only the front face A, FIG. 1, of this blank 10 is made of sufficiently noble material to be able to carry an impression.

 On the other hand, its back side B, FIG. 2, can advantageously and economically be made of leaner material.

 In the usual way, it is possible, for example, to provide prints 32 on the front panel 14, and / or prints 33 on the intermediate panel 13 ′, as shown in gray in FIG. 1.

 these are for example any decorative elements, or any verbal or figurative mentions.

 According to the invention, the decoration panel 27 itself carries at least one impression 34.

 In practice, three prints 34 are thus provided on this decoration panel 27, each respectively in correspondence with the cutouts 19 of the front panel 14, these prints 34 being intended to be seen in transparency through the glass goblets 20 to be packaged.

 In the figures, and for simple convenience, to facilitate the presentation, each of the prints 32, 33, 34 thus implemented has been confined in a particular outline.

 It goes without saying that such an outline, which is not at all imperative, is arbitrary.

 Anyway, it follows from the foregoing that, all affecting one and the same side of the blank 10, namely its front side A, these various impressions 32, 33, 34 can easily be identified with respect to each other , being carried out all in one and the same pass if desired.

 The blank 10 thus printed can be delivered as is, flat, in practice in a group with others, to its user.

 In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 2, 3, however, a gluing and a first folding of this blank 10 is carried out.

 For example, and as shown diagrammatically by hatching in FIG. 2, a line of adhesive 35 is applied to the lining panel 26, on the back side B of the blank 10, parallel to the transverse fold lines. 11.

 It is then proceeded to a drawdown of 1800, against the rest of the blank 10, and by the back side B of it, which is intended to be the non-visible side in the display packaging to be produced, of the decoration panel 27, together with the lining panel 26 which it extends, around the transverse fold line 11 connecting this lining panel 26 to the intermediate panel 13 with which it is associated.

 At the end of this drawdown, FIG. 3, the decoration panel 27 is superimposed on the bottom panel 12, and the lining panel 26 is superimposed on the intermediate panel 13.

 However, while the decoration panel 27 remains free relative to the bottom panel 12, the lining panel 26 is itself secured by gluing to the intermediate panel 13 to which it is superimposed.

 As will be noted, it is the front side A of the blank 10 which is then visible for the decoration panel 27, as well as for the lining panel 26, with, in view, the prints 34 worn by this decorative panel 27.

 The blank 10 thus pre-folded and glued is still advantageously available flat.

 At its places of use, it can be proceeded as follows for its volume.

 For example, in FIG. 4A, the glass goblets 20 to be packaged are placed flat on the decoration panel 27, and the assembly constituted by the intermediate panel 13 ′, the front panel 14, and the closure panel 15 is erected. perpendicular to the rest.

 Then, in FIG. 4B, the front panel 14, with, in its extension, the closure panel 15, is folded at right angles to the intermediate panel 13 ', while the intermediate panel 13, with the lining panel 26 which is superimposed, is itself erected at right angles to the bottom panel 11 and to the decoration panel 27 superimposed on the latter, FIG. 4B.

 During its folding, the front panel 14 engages, through its cutouts 19, on the glass goblets 20 concerned, while the freedom of the decoration panel 27 with respect to the bottom panel 12 that it double facilitates the folding of the assembly constituted by the intermediate panel 13 and the lining panel 26 secured to it.

 Finally, in FIG. 4C, the closure panel 15 is folded back against the assembly formed by the intermediate panel 13 and the lining panel 26, and at.

At the end of this folding, the locking of the display packaging 36 thus obtained is ensured by engagement of the tabs 16 of this closure panel 15 in the cutouts 17, 30 of said assembly.

 As illustrated in Figure 5, the display package 36 can be erected vertically, for a vertical presentation of the cups 20 concerned.

 Anyway, the prints 34 carried by its decoration panel 27 then appear in transparency through these cups 20, Figures 5 and 6, being perfectly identified with respect, for example, to prints 32 carried jointly by the panel front 14.

 Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown, but encompasses any variant, in particular with regard to the locking means used to keep the blank flank closed on itself. initial.

 In addition, it is not imperative that the decoration panel extends over the entire bottom panel to which it is superimposed.

 The field of application of the invention is not limited to the packaging of glass goblets either, but also extends to that of any other translucent article.

 Although more particularly intended for such translucent articles, it can also extend equally well to the packaging of other articles, in particular if the front panel has openings leaving the bottom panel visible, and therefore the decoration panel superimposed on it.

 In any event, the number of articles concerned is indifferent.
