The invention relates to a dish for microbiological culture under a controlled atmosphere and more particularly, but not exclusively, to dishes for the culture of anaerobic microbes. It is characterised in that: on the one hand, the cover 3, which is intended for closing the base, has a double wall, an outer wall 17 of which is flexible and impermeable to gases regardless of their molecular mass, and an inner wall 19 of which is permeable to air, and on the other hand, the inner and outer walls are spaced apart in a manner which creates between them a chamber 23 in which reagents 15 are placed. Application to the laboratory equipment industry.

Description

The invention relates to a microbiological culture dish in a controlled atmosphere and more particularly but not exclusively to the culture dishes for anaerobic germs.

To date, for most bacteriological cultures on solid media, use is made of so-called "Petri dishes", generally made of plastic and composed, on the one hand, of a lid and, on the other hand, a bottom which, depending on whether it was obtained by molding or by thermoforming, has a side wall that is either frustoconical or cylindrical and then terminated by a flange.

In conventional Petri dishes, the lid is designed to maintain aeration of the contents which is suitable for aerobic cultures.

For cultures in a so-called controlled atmosphere and mainly protected from the oxygen of the air, it is known to use such boxes, which are then sealed with an adhesive tape afterwards.
- either that they were filled with synthetic atmospheres taken from various containers such as sheaths, sachets or bottles,
- or that the desired atmosphere has been created there by triggering a reaction between the air which is trapped in the box and at least one reagent introduced into it.

This reagent can be in various forms: or a sachet of solid product such as reducing iron or a tampon, for example made of cardboard, soaked in an appropriate liquid body such as alkaline pyrogallol, sodium borohydride and alkali carbonate, etc. ...

In all cases, the quantity of reagent is necessarily limited and can therefore only treat a certain volume of air.

However, with such a box, the time necessary for the installation of the adhesive sealing tape allows a significant exchange between the outside and the inside of the box and therefore a renewal of the air, which makes the composition of the product uncertain. 'atmosphere.

The resulting risk is so great that, in an attempt to remedy it, it is known to place the Petri dish in a controlled atmosphere sachet.

On the other hand, in such a process, there is a serious risk of seeing the reagents coming into contact with the culture media.

One result which the invention aims to obtain is a culture dish of the aforementioned type which allows culture in a perfectly controlled atmosphere.

To this end, it relates to such a culture dish, in particular characterized in that
- On the one hand, the cover which is intended to close the bottom, is double-walled including an external wall which is flexible and impermeable to gases whatever their molecular mass, then an internal wall which, for example by orifices, is permeable to air and,
- on the other hand, while being intended to be interconnected at their periphery, the internal and external walls are spaced from one another so as to create between them a chamber in which are located reagents comprising, d on the one hand, solids inactive in isolation and, on the other hand, liquid bodies retained in destructible containers and which are likely, upon their release, to react with the solid bodies to trigger the creation of the controlled atmosphere then ensure con nervation.

It will be clearly understood with the aid of the description given below, by way of nonlimiting example, with regard to the attached drawing, which represents schematically
- Figure 1: a culture dish seen in section,
- Figure 2: an alternative embodiment of the box.

Referring to the drawing, it can be seen that the box 1, 2 comprises a cover 3, 4 and a bottom 5, 6.

The bottom 5, 6 has a side wall 7, 8 either frustoconical (7) whose upper edge 9 is capped by the cover 3, or cylindrical (8) and then ends with a flange 10 on which is placed the cover 4 which is possibly pasted.

In addition to culture 11, 12, the dish shelters a certain volume of air 13, 14 which is placed in the presence of reagents 15, 16.

According to an essential characteristic of the invention
- On the one hand, the cover 3, 4, which is intended to close the bottom, is double-walled, an external wall 17, 18 of which is flexible and impermeable to gases whatever their molecular mass, then an internal wall 19, 20 which, for example through orifices 21, 22, is permeable to air and,
- on the other hand, while being intended to be interconnected at their periphery, the internal and external walls are spaced from each other so as to create between them a chamber 23, 24 in which reagents are placed 15, 16 comprising, on the one hand, isolated inactive solid bodies 25, 26 and, on the other hand, liquid bodies 27, 28 and 29, 30 retained in destructible containers and which are of a nature, upon their release, to react with solid bodies to trigger the creation of 1- controlled atmosphere then ensure its conservation.

Destructible containers preferably consist of thin glass vials.

Over the bulbs, the external wall 17, 18 can be reinforced by an extra thickness 31, 32.

The solid bodies are advantageously mixed with inert substances with too large a specific surface and contained in a porous container 33, 34, for example in high-resistance filter paper or in nonwoven.

The seal between the cover and the bottom can be obtained by any known means such as by a wedging rib 35 or by an adhesive tape 36 or a bonding.

The seal between the two walls of the cover is ensured by bonding over the entire periphery.

The sterility of the assembly is ensured by any known means and for example by gamma ray.

The flexibility of the external wall is necessary to allow it to absorb variations in inevitable pressure
tables during processes.
