Abstract

This method amounts to placing prefabricated trusses with a so-called tie beam, which are especially truncated and have rafter-raising blocks (drawing number 5), making it possible to place them onto raising blocks which are integral with the load-bearing walls, by sliding after only part of the roofing pane has been laid. (Existing roofing - roof battens - crossbracing). After the new trusses have been placed, they are fixed by screwing against the old trusses, in order to take over their use and to allow the internal members of the old trusses which have become redundant to be cut. After crossbracing and buckling prevention, the placing of a floor in timber or agglomerate allows the space which has thus been cleared to be used. As necessary and depending on the accessibility of the site, the sliding of the trusses on a tie beam may be carried out mechanically or manually by means of rollers positioned on the old trusses.

B / STATE OF THE ART IN BE AREA CONSIDERED: current methods of converting attics are expensive, complex, require major removal and installation of the roof, or the transformation of existing apartments by passing load-bearing beams or posts.

Other methods, by cables and tie rods, or by metal beams put stress on the walls for which they were not designed.

In current techniques, the resumption of loads is not professional, the force on the structure being taken up in a few points only of the walls or gables.

THIS RESULTS:
This process allows fast, rational and inexpensive work.

the desired result is obtained without total removal of the roof, and without intervening in existing apartments, with a result identical to new construction with regard to the load-bearing capacity of the floor, and superior to new construction with regard to performance of the roof, by doubling the crossbowmen.

The weight of the floor, and the load of the latter are taken up at 30 to 40 points of the load-bearing walls.

B / Technical characteristics:
Method consisting in the installation, without total removal of the cover, of a frame known as "entry carrier" (Drawing N01) slipped on risers and combined with the existing frame and lost roof space (Drawing N02) resume use, allowing the abstraction of the interior files (Drawing N03) and the recovery of the lost space, thanks to the rDIe carrying the new struts, and the installation of a wooden floor.
