Abstract

The invention relates to a trigger system which is simple and of small size for a cross-bow, allowing the release of a bolt by a low pressure on the trigger, even if it is under a very high tension. The system comprises a pawl 3 which retains the bolt 8 while bearing on the trigger 1; by causing the latter to swivel, the pawl 3 pivots on its spindle 7 and retracts while releasing the bolt 8. The immobilization of the trigger 1 by the safety device 5 ensures the locking of the complete mechanism. The insertion of the bolt 8 in the butt causes the retraction of the arming rocker 2 which carries the spindle 7 of the pawl 3 which then engages in the notch of the bolt 8. This system can be applied to cross-bows whatever their method of propulsion may be, and whenever a release from a high tension (sail board harness, safety belt, towing cable etc) is required by means of a very low force.
