Abstract

The invention relates to hoeing instruments making it possible to loosen the ground for the purpose of better development of the plant by aerating the roots. It comprises a wheel 1 on which inwardly curved metal teeth 3 have been arranged. The wheel revolves around a spindle placed at the centre. The pressure exerted on the wheel by means of a handle forces the teeth into the ground; by virtue of the rotary movement given to the wheel by pushing the apparatus, the teeth stir up the ground which is equivalent to conventional hoeing. The hoeing instrument facilitates this work whose tiresome nature and duration is distinctly reduced.

Description

 The present device is an instrument intended to loosen the soil of garden beds and rid it of weeds for a better development of the plant by aeration of the roots.

 In the known instruments used to date for performing the same work, the latter is either more painful and longer (conventional hoeing), or noisy discomfort and of a higher cost price (tiller) or still incomplete or insufficient (ex : croissants from Lorraine).

 This instrument makes it possible to loosen the soil quickly by reducing the effort required (prolonged standing position and tedious repetitive work in conventional hoeing). It is able to pull out the emerging grass. It therefore promotes satisfactory plant development and avoids the use of weedkiller5. In addition, it is neither noisy nor polluting.

 It consists of a classic wheel rotating around an axis. On the rim are fixed curved metal teeth which scrape the ground and grind it. The device placed next to the row to be worked is pushed using a handle on which a slight pressure is exerted. Its use is very convenient on planks due t m of width approximately and allows an appreciable time saving (all the more important as the ground is light). In addition, used from the aisle, it does not have to delay the work done.

 The wheel axle is fixed on a metal bracket (4). On the top of the latter, a handle is housed in the orifice (5).

 In general, people whose strength is declining or whose back is weak must give up traditional gardening because it requires a standing position, leaning forward tiring for the spine and legs.

 In addition, for others, gardening is a repelling activity because, either it requires a large down payment at the outset if one wishes to acquire suitable motorized instruments; or, if we cannot buy the equipment, it requires efforts deemed too important and people quickly get tired of this tasteless exercise.

 This instrument makes hoeing work (traditionally considered tedious) attractive. Indeed, the effort required for its use is low since it suffices to push and exert reasonable pressure on the handle. In addition, the work is done quickly and the standing position thus loses its tedious nature. In addition, the instrument has the advantage of being silent, simple in design, easy to use and avoids the dangerous use of weedkillers. It can be used in countries that do not have sufficient financial means to acquire suitable equipment.

CLAIM  1. Hoeing apparatus characterized by the fact that it comprises a wheel (i) mounted on an axis (2) connected by the intermediary of a stirrup (4) to the handle, this wheel comprising curved teeth (3) fixed on its rim (1).
