<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Tiller for loosening the soil without overturning.
The invention relates to a tiller for loosening the soil without turning it over comprising a tool provided with teeth and driven by a balance crank mechanism.
This type of tiller finds its application mainly for the loosening of soils of limited dimensions or difficult access, such as vegetable gardens and greenhouses.
We already know the use of a tiller equipped with rotary tillers. The work of this machine leaves uneven ground, requires considerable physical strength and skill. In addition, it is mainly criticized for favoring the proliferation of weeds and excessive tillage - which will result in increasing its compactness during successive rains. It will also destroy a large part of the natural cycle of bacteria, because a soil particle initially on the surface (in contact with the oxygen in the air) may be found irregularly at different depths.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. The invention, as characterized in the claims, solves the problem of creating a tool whose movement in the ground makes it possible to loosen it without turning it over and also provides for the advancement of the tiller.
The invention is characterized by a toothed tool animated by a balance crank mechanism constituted by a quadrilateral articulated to a degree of freedom. Said tool is characterized in that it is driven by a driving crank rod and guided by a balance rod. The tooth tool comprises a body articulated at one end and at an intermediate point, the other end forms the base on which a set of teeth is fixed. By quadrilateral articulated to a degree of freedom, one understands a connecting rod crank drive, a tool with teeth, a rod connecting rod guide; this kinematic structure is connected to the chassis of the tiller, on the one hand by the crank rod and on the other hand, by the balance rod.
The driving crank rod is driven by a uniform rotational movement, and the movement resulting from the teeth in the ground is characterized in its cycle by very different speeds. The first part of the cycle, where the speed is higher, is used to penetrate the teeth into the ground, optimizing a greater available impact force; the second part of the cycle where the speed is lower, is used to ensure the two functions which are the loosening of the ground and the advancement - tiller, thus optimizing a couple available

important.
The advantages obtained thanks to this invention consist mainly in this: 10. The work of loosening as it is described respects the principles of organic farming (tillage without turning and incorporation of amendments made to the soil in the first centimeters of the surface to allow aerobic degradation).
20. Very easy to use; the tiller only provides for its advancement and stability. Sometimes only a little guidance is necessary.
30. The work of loosening is reduced, which allows the tiller to adapt to all types of soil and not to increase its compactness.
40. 11 does not promote the growth of weeds, because the reduced profile of the teeth is unlikely to meet and then cut the roots responsible for the multiplication.
In addition, the roots detached from the soil are easily extracted.
50. It is a versatile tool that can be used in particular as a lawn scarifier, and possibly in the form of a manucultor without the help of a motor.
All in all, this tiller is distinguished by more efficient work and greater ease of use.

The invention is set out below in more detail using a drawing representing only one embodiment. Figure I represents the kinematics of the articulated quadrilateral limited by the perimeter ABCD or by the connecting rods I, 2,3, 4. The tool (3) comprising the teeth (5), is composed by a body articulated at one of its ends and at an intermediate point. The other end forms the base on which the teeth are fixed.
Its movement is conditioned by a driving crank rod (2) and a guide rod connecting rod (. 4) actuated by the motor (8) via its speed reducer (9) so that the end of the toothing (5) statically describes a closed FGH curve, the preferred shape of which is shown in FIG. I. The driving crank rod (2) is rotated uniformly, and the resulting movement of the teeth in the ground is characterized in its cycle by very different speeds.
The first part of the FG cycle, where the speed is higher, is used for the penetration of the teeth into the ground, thereby optimizing a greater impact force; the second part GH, where the speed is lower, is used to ensure the two functions which are the loosening of the ground and the advancement of the tiller, optimizing a greater available torque. The power delivered by the organ: motor is used in the most judicious way possible.
The frame is articulated so as to allow adjustment of the depth of penetration of the teeth into the ground (between 30 and 200 mm).

EMI5.1
The upper part of the chassis at the articulation (7) supports the motor (8), the reduction gear (9), as well as the balance crank mechanism. The lower part of the chassis at the articulation, is made up of two pads (10) and (II) arranged laterally in the direction of advancement of the tiller. A device (12) makes it possible to block the articulation (7). As an indication, without limitation, an embodiment of the tiller according to the claims of the invention has the following characteristics: length of the connecting rod (2) = 80 mm, length of the connecting rod (4) = 245 mm, length BC between the two joints of the tool body = 230 mm, the total length BE = 380 mm. length AD or (1) secured to the chassis = 160 mm.
The teeth are arranged at the end E, perpendicular to the axis of the tool body and to the movement of the mechanism. The length of the teeth is 200 mm; the width of the teeth is 400 mm, the diameter of the teeth is 9 mm and the space-

- between the teeth, 80 mm. The speed of rotation of the driving crank rod is 1 t / sec. According to an alternative embodiment of the toothed tool, the base E can be articulated relative to the body of the tool and the movement is limited by two stops, one of which is movable.
In this case, this device makes it possible to adjust the speed of advance of the tiller.

It is obvious that a person skilled in the art will be able to choose the characteristics of the various means used to arrive at the desired form of displacement of the teeth. The speed of the driving rod, the lengths of the various rods (I), (2), (3), (4), constitute the essential factors whose choice will allow to arrive at the desired results.
