Abstract

Convertible modular piece of furniture which, having the shape of a cupboard or library shelf unit, is capable of being connected to a wall assembly of unit or repetitive shape and can be converted, as desired, into an extensible table or into superposed beds. 2 modular convertible furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the lower edge of said recess of the door (3) occupies a level which coincides with the useful plane of the table in condition of use, and receives by means of a hinge the corresponding edge of one of the two boards of said table, which is fixed by its opposite edge and by means of a pawl (24) concealed on the upper wall of the recess, with on the outside face of this first panel a peripheral molding in which two U-shaped sectors (7 and 8) are defined, independent and the ends of the branches of which are opposite and in contact so that the lower sector (7) is integral with the board, - while the upper sector (8) is joined to said board by means of concealed hinges arranged in its transverse or upper branch, so that, when the board is folded down, this articulated sector (8) can fold itself, forming two support feet for the adite plank.

3, modular convertible furniture according to one set of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that one of the branches of this folding sector (8) of the molding is in liaiso-n with the board by means of an articulated branch ( 19) which maintains the vertical position of the

feet during the use of the table and which is placed,

in a state of rest, in a recess practiced on purpose

on one of the branches of this U-shaped sector of the molding, with

in each of the ends of the branches of this sector a

ratchet (10), housed inside and stressed in perma

nence by a spring (12) which is capable of interlocking

in an existing housing at the ends of the branches

of the molding sector rigidly connected to the board3 these

pawls each comprising a lateral branch (13)

which allows them to be actuated manually to release the

feet, after which the central branch of the folding sector

allows access to the ratchet fixing pawl

the door recess.

4. Modular convertible furniture according to the set

of the preceding claims, characterized in that the second board (16) of the table, optional, occupies the bottom of the recess of the door behind the first board (9), and is connected to it by articulation by means of their upper edges, this second board comprising in its rear face a longitudinal and centered housing (18), in which is placed with adjustment clamps a folding foot (17) also comprising an articulated branch (20) similar to that of the sector (8) and also intended to fix the foot in the use position.

5. modular convertible furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the door (3) with which is internally associated one of the superimposed beds (26) is mounted so as to be able to tilt on the mouth of the body of the furniture to the by means of two lateral bolts (25) situated relatively close to its lower edge and which play in holes formed in the sides of the cabinet, said bolts being in connection with respective regulators (28) which compensate for the weight of the bed-table-holder assembly during its folding down, the door frontally having a lateral handle (4) allowing it to be folded down and comprising at its upper edge, more precisely on its inner face, two end hinges (30) for coupling the folding feet (29) corresponding, with the particularity that one of the feet of the hinges has a U-shaped profile and fits into a housing of appropriate dimensions formed in the door, while the other foot, which receives the feet mobile, has a similar profile and can travel around the edge of the door so that the folding feet remain, in use, below the door.

Convertible modular furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the other bunk bed (33), which occupies the bottom of the furniture and is intended to occupy a plane greater than that associated with the door, in use, has at its head two lateral sliding means (37) which slide in vertical guides (38) associated with the sides of the piece of furniture, while at their lateral edges are articulated two respective arms (39) which are articulated, at their other end, in the postero-upper zone of the piece of furniture, this second bed comprising two tilting rear legs (32) and in connection by crosspieces constituting a staircase, which are capable of fitting, by their free ends, into the formed recesses in the articulation hinges of the legs of the lower bed, with the particularity that there are laterally two foldable ramps each formed by two sections articulated together, one of which is articulated to the corresponding arm and the other next to the bed.

Modular convertible furniture according to all of claims 1 and 6, characterized in that the upper bed which tends to keep, by gravity, its vertical closed position, further comprises a lever actuation ratchet assembly (41) associated to the upper shelving unit and which acts on a handle (35) centered on the rear edge of the bed, this handle itself activating two branches which transmit the movement to each of two pawls located at the head of the bed and which can fit into two respective ends associated with the sides of the body of the piece of furniture, and which hold the bed in a situation of use in opposition to any involuntary movement.
