Abstract

The invention relates to a safety cut-out device for the battery of a motor vehicle, provided on the positive terminal of the said battery and comprising a cylindrical, hollow body 1 of a conductive material, into which is screwed a non-conductive cylindrical element 3, a conductive plate 4 being clasped between the element 3 and the body 1. A cover 5 keeps a supply lug 6 of the starter of the vehicle in place against a contact surface 1b provided on the body 1. A supply terminal 7 is connected via a straight fuse to the plate 4 and, by overhanging the insulating cover 5, keeps the latter in place. A spring 9 is arranged in its compressed state between the plate 4 and the cover 5. When a chance overload appears in the circuit, in particular during a surge, the fuse, by breaking, frees the spring 9 which ejects the terminal 7 and the lug 6, all electrical connection between the battery and the circuit thus being interrupted.
