Description

Nédiator pour instruments à cordes. Nediator for stringed instruments.

The invention relates to a pick for string instruments, and in particular a pick of the curved triangular type for guitars.

The usual tors media are plastic. It has been found by performers that attacking guitar strings with these twisted media makes an unpleasant metallic sound.

In addition, another defect of these conventional tors media is that they risk slipping or moving under the fingers of the performer - due to the humidity which develops, after a more or less long playing time, at the pick and finger contact.

The object of the invention is to propose a pick which does not have the aforementioned drawbacks.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the pick is made of wood. Indeed, the inventor has discovered that wood significantly improves the qualities of the sound emission by eliminating the metallic timbre and, moreover, absorbs the contact moisture of the fingers on the pick, so that it results perfect finger grip on the pick. This adhesion is all the more favorable to the good resistance of the pick because it allows, following light wear due to the friction of the fingers at the same place of the pick, to truly mark the natural location of the fingers and to preserve always this position.

The holding of the pick can be further improved by providing on each of its two faces, in accordance with the invention, a hollow pre-impression corresponding to the location of the thumb and forefinger on the pick.

Woods that are suitable for manufacturing must achieve a compromise between the sometimes contradictory requirements for the simultaneous achievement of the following objectives: avoid premature wear of the pick, obtain good sound quality, absorb moisture properly.

The experiments carried out by the inventor have shown that the most suitable woods are woods with a density d of between 0.85 and 1.30
Among these woods, we must mention the group comprising ebony (Diaspyros, d # 0.95 to 1.25), boxwood (Buxus sempervirens, d ~ 0.90), pernambuco (Guilandina echinata or caesalpina, d ~ 1.10), amaranth (Peltogyre, d O, 95 to 1), Ceylon lemon tree (Chloroxylon swietenia, de 0.8 to 1), tali (Erythrophleum ivorense or guineense, due 0.8 to 1.1 ,), azobé (Lophira alata, from 0.95 to 1.1), guaiac (Guaiacum officinale, d # 1.15 to 1.30).

brais un bois encore préféré, notamment sous le rapport de son absorption de l'humidité et des facilités d'approvisionnement, est l'olivier (Olea europea, drY0,85 à 1,12). braised a still preferred wood, particularly in terms of its absorption of moisture and ease of supply, is the olive tree (Olea europea, drY0.85 to 1.12).

- la figure 1 est une vue de dessus d'un médiator conforme à l'invention;
Other advantages and characteristics will emerge from the following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention, with reference to the attached drawing in which
- Figure 1 is a top view of a pick according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a front view of the pick of Figure 1.

The pick 1 has the shape of a curvilinear triangle ABC cut from a blade about 4 m thick e. Along its perimeter, the edges are generally rounded (cf. figure 2, vertex A) and, in the region of vertex C used to attack the cord, cut into beaks (cf. figure 2, vertex C).

According to the invention, the upper 2 and lower 3 faces of the pick 1 carry pre-impressions for the location of the thumb and forefinger on the pick. These pre-impressions are made in the form of elongated depressions 4 and 5 with softened edges generally parallel to one of the sides of the curvilinear triangle ABC. The depression 4 (shown in Figure 1 by elongated dotted lines) is substantially parallel to the side AB and the depression 5 (shown in Figure 1 by short dotted lines) is substantially parallel to the side AC. The exact location of the depressions as well as their width can be chosen according to the operator.

The special shape given to the pick of the invention allows the performer to have it well in hand and to keep it constantly in its ideal playing position.
