Abstract

The ladder extension comprises a channel-shaped element (3) having inwardly directed free edges which are shaped to slidably locate over one of the ladder uprights (1). One end of a chain (10) is permanently attached to the upper end of the element (3) whilst the other end passes beneath the lowest rung (2a) and is then releasably secured to the upper end of the element. The free end of the chain (10) pref. releasably engages into a slot (9b) in a bracket (7) which is secured to the upper end of the element allowing the length of the chain to be adjusted.
