Abstract

The process uses a retractable edging strip (5) to secure articles such as empty glass bottles (2) on a board (4) for a multi-layer pallet (1). The outer rows of bottles are sited by the edges of the board, the strip retracting due to its inherent elasticity, or its reaction to heat, to apply positive edge restraint to the bottles. Description

 The object of the present invention is a method for maintaining articles on a tray and means for its ease of use.

 This process applies more specifically to the maintenance on several layers, of palletized articles such as glass bottles, flasks or the like.

 The transport of empty bottles between their place of manufacture and the place where the packaging of the products they are intended to contain is carried out, is done by pallets, where the bottles are arranged in several layers.

 A first solution consists in placing between two layers of bottles a cardboard tray placed either right side up, so that its edge extends from the bottom of the upper layer, or upside down so that its edge edge covering the upper part of the layer located immediately below. It is also possible to provide between two layers two trays arranged back to back.

A second solution consists in depositing the different layers of article on a tray, holding the bottles by a polypropylene strip or the like.

 A third solution consists in simply depositing each layer of bottles on a tray, without specific lateral support thereof.

 In general, the three types of packaging are completed by covering the pallet with a shrink or stretch film which provides stability and protection against environmental aggressions.

These three types of packaging all have drawbacks, the main ones being as follows
- For the first type of packaging, the cost of the cardboard boxes is high, the automation of the box forming is very expensive, the pallet is not very stable before fitting the cover, the release of the products resting in a box the place cannot be done by simple lateral pushing, these must first be lifted vertically, the articles can fall in the case of a ltenvers bin, and there can be a sliding of a layer by compared to the neighboring one.

 - For the second type of packaging, it is necessary to remove the bottles at each corner of a layer to avoid ovalization of the latter, when the peripheral strip is put in place, which increases the costs of distribution. In addition, this packaging dildo is exclusively reserved for articles having their generatrices perpendicular to the plane of the support.

 - For the third type of packaging, it should be noted that it is exclusively suitable for very stable articles, but nevertheless causes frequent falls of articles during the handling of pallets not provided with their protective covers.

 The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks.

 To this end, the process which it relates to consists in associating with the monk a layer of articles with a tray, the outer row of articles being close to the peripheral edge of the tray, then covering the edge of the tray with the using a strip of width greater than that of the edge, and made of a shrinkable material due to its elasticity or under the effect of heat, so that at least one edge of the strip forming a belt protrudes from the plate and aged press against the articles associated therewith, and disposed near the periphery of the latter.  If the tray is an intermediate tray between two rows of articles1 the belt protrudes on either side of the tray and is substantially centered on it, its edges being associated, respectively, with the items located above and below from him.

 After placing a belt on the periphery of a tray associated with two superimposed rows of articles, the belt comes into contact, on the one hand, with the top of the articles located on the lower layer, in this case the ring of the bottles if the articles are made up of back bottles and, on the other hand, with the bottom of the articles located on the layer deposited on the tray, in this case the Jable of the bottles.

 This results in the advantage of lateral support of the plate on the two layers which adjoin it, the sliding of one layer with respect to the other being thus made impossible.

 Another advantage of the invention is to apply a force at the top and at the bottom to the articles, which makes it possible to avoid any fall of the latter, and to create contact forces between each article, these forces stiffening the layer. .

 It should also be noted that this system allows a belt to remain in contact with the external generators of the article, regardless of the geometry of the generator. Another advantage is to be able to apply a lateral clamping force to a layer of parallelepiped shape, composed of articles of any section, round or ovoid for example, whose surface is slippery or not, without the geometry of the layer being affected. .

 Another advantage of the invention is that it makes it possible, during the depalletization of each of the layers, to extract from the area of the pallet in a single operation the tray and the belt.

 It is also possible to carry out manual doping palletizing article by article, while maintaining a flange preventing them from falling, which is not the case for example in the packaging with strip presented above.

 This method also makes it possible to maintain the first layer of articles directly on the load support pallet, as well as to maintain the upper plate on the last layer of articles.

 A packaging produced according to this process therefore has a universal character since it is produced from a single pallet, and from a single type of flat tray, whatever the number of layers and the nature of the products to be packaged.

 The fact of covering the edge of each tray with a belt is also advantageous because preventing runoff from condensation on the inside of the covers from coming into contact with the material of the tray, which is generally made of cardboard. Possibly a tiling effect can be obtained by overlapping the strips.

A final advantage resulting from the structure of the packaging produced is the low cost price of the means used to obtain it.
In the case of several rows of superposed products on a pallet for example, the method according to the invention consists in forming a pallet by superimposing the different layers of articles, then in positioning a single strip forming a belt, successively on the entire periphery of an end plate, lower or upper, then on the following plates, the strip having an inclined part between two adjacent plates.

 This solution is interesting because it makes it possible to align the hold of the articles from a single strip, without having to cut it between two superimposed trays.

 The means intended for the implementation of this process comprise at least one rigid plate whose edge is slightly projecting, at least at the angles thereof, from the peripheral storage of articles with which it is associated, and at least a deformable strip made of a plastic material or of a heat-shrinkable material, this strip being able to be solid or perforated.

In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows with reference to the appended diagrammatic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of a packaging obtained by the process according to the invention. invention:

 The packaging shown in the drawing comprises a known type of pallet on which three rows of glass bottles 2 rest, the assembly being surrounded by a film of heat-shrinkable or stretchable synthetic material 2.

 The first row or lower row of bottles rests directly on the pallet t, the two upper rows each resting on a tray 4. It should be noted that the respective dimensions of the pallet and the trays 4 are such that their edges slightly protrude by relative to the periphery of the outer layer of bottles 2.

 Coee shown in the drawing, there is provided a belt 5 of width greater than that of the edge of each tray 4 and do the pallet t bearing on each tray, the edges of which bear against the parts located above and below of the considered plateau. In the case of an intermediate plate, the band 5 forming a belt bears, respectively, on the ring of the bottles of the lower row, and on the rim of the bottles of the upper row.

 The belt is made of an elastic heat-shrinkable material, so that after being placed around a tray, this support on the containers is made firmly. As regards the pallet 1 and the plate 4 placed on the upper layer, the belt is only associated with a layer of containers, its other edge being in abutment directly on the pallet or on the plate as the case may be.

 Figure t shows that all the belts associated with the pallet and the different trays can be produced from a single strip, the belting being carried out first at the pallet, then successively at the first , second and third plates, the passage between the pallet and the first plate or between one of the plates and the plate immediately above, being produced by means of an inclined strip part 6.

 As is apparent from this preceding mistletoe, the invention brings a great improvement to the existing technique, by providing a process allowing the production of packaging of a low cost price, having very advantageous properties both as regards the protection of the articles contained in the packaging, whatever their form, as their handling during unpacking.

 It goes without saying that the intention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this packaging, described above by way of example; on the contrary, it embraces all of its variant embodiments.

 Thus in particular that the shape, back containers contained in the package, in that the shape of the trays could be different without departing from the framework of the intention.

 - CLAIMS  1. - A method for holding articles relative to a tray, characterized in that it consists in associating at least one layer of items (s) with a tray (4), the outer row of articles being located near the peripheral edge of the tray, then cover the edge of the tray with a band (5) wider than that of the edge, and made of a shrinkable material due to its elasticity or under the effect of heat , so that at least one edge of the belt band protrudes from the plate and comes to press against the articles associated with it, and disposed near the periphery of the latter.  2. - Method according to claim 1, characterized in that, in the case of an intermediate plate between two rows of articles, the belt (5) protrudes on either side of the plate (4) and is substantially centered thereon, its edges being associated, respectively, with the articles (2) situated above and below it.  3. - Method according to any one of claims t and S, characterized in that it consists in forming a pallet by superimposing the different layers of articles, then in positioning a single strip (5) forming a belt, successively on the entire periphery of an extreme, lower or upper plate (1, 4), then on the following plates, the strip sensing an inclined portion (6) between two adjoining plates.  4. - Means for implementing the method according to any one of claims t to 3, characterized in that they comprise at least one rigid plate (4) whose edge is slightly projecting, at least at the angles thereof, the peripheral range of articles (2) with which it is associated, and at least one deformable strip (5) made of an elastic material or of a heat-shrinkable material.
