Abstract
Description
The subject of the invention is a manufacturing process and the decorative slab comprising designs cut from a plastic sheet embedded in the mass resulting from said process.
To form drawings and figures in the mass of slabs of granite, terrazzo, marble, cement ..., it is possible to encrust in these slabs, small elements of geometric shape or not, in or on the surface, for example in cement. The short of these mosaics is currently very high due to the cost of labor.
The invention avoids all these drawbacks, it makes it possible to obtain a decorative slab at a low cost and with new aesthetic effects.
The method according to the invention consists in pouring a mixture of grain and cement in a scrapped mold or not or one has previously arranged a design cut out from one or more plastic plates; said drawing is immobilized by bonding plastic bars, side not visible, on the surface of the slab, so that the cutout of the drawing appears on the surface in said slab. The cut design is fixed by means of a weak glue which acts as the bottom of the mold, on a support plate or polyvinyl sheet which temporarily maintains said design at surface level so that it appears on the surface of the slab, when it is turned over, unmolded and stripped of its support plate.
The method according to the invention consists in operating according to the phases below described in more detail.
After choosing the drawing and having brought it to the desired dimensions, the drawing is traced and cut out of plastic. The thickness of the plastic can vary from 3 to 6 millimeters.
Of course, the plastic can be of different colors. The cut design is immobilized by a strong bonding of plastic bars, side not visible, on the surface of the slab. The design is fixed using rectified chloroform, acting as weak glue, on a polyvinyl chloride sheet of approximately 3 or L millimeters thick acting as the bottom of the molding of the decorative slab to be created. At this stage, the grain of different colors can be mixed with white or colored cement using oxide.
The percentage is around 50/50 for grain and cement.
To the shape of the slab, a grid grid is prepared which acts as reinforcement for said slab, possibly, iron bars of different calibers are added according to the thickness of the slab; the cement and the grain are mixed with an addition of water to obtain a fairly flexible amalgam allowing the corners of the chosen design to be filled; the amalgam is poured on the design which is at the bottom of the mold, so as to cover the bars of immobilization of the design which are in the thickness of the slab. Inside the molding, the grid used as scrap is deposited up to the desired thickness; the slab is dried in its mold; at least forty eight hours later, we unmold. Once demolded, the slab is turned over. The support plate is peeled off from the surface of the slab to which it is fixed with dots of weak glue when cutting the design which then appears on the surface of the slab (see Figures 2 and 3).
We proceed to a first sanding of the slab using a stone and water sander for granite, using different grains from 1 to 4; a mixture of very liquid white or colored cement is applied to the slab to fill the various small holes left by the air bubbles; the film formed by the cement is then dried, then a second sanding is used to restore the slab to its smooth and clean appearance, then the said slab is polished using a felt disc and polishing pot ; finally, the slab is finished with the floor sealer.
The attached figures make it easy to understand the invention. They represent a preferred embodiment according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a view of the mold for pouring the slab upside down and of the design cut from the plastic.
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the slab cast upside down in its mold.
La figure 3 est une vue en coupe. Figure 3 is a sectional view.
FIG. 4 is a view of a finished slab, produced according to the invention with a drawing different from that shown in FIG. 1.
Once the drawing 2 has been cut from one or more plastic plates, the cutting from this drawing 2 is held in place and immobilized by plastic bars 10 fixed by points of strong adhesive, on the non-visible side of the drawing 2. Said drawing 2 is fixed - on the visible side using rectified chloroform acting as weak glue on a support plate 11 or polyvinyl chloride sheet. This support plate 11 acts as a base for the mold 1 of the decorative slab to be created.
At this stage, the grain of different colors can be mixed with white or colored cement, using oxide. The percentage is around 50/50 for grain and cement. In the form of slab 4, a grid grid is prepared which acts as reinforcement for said slab, possibly, iron bars of different calibers are added depending on the thickness of the slab; the cement and the grain are mixed with an addition of water to obtain a fairly flexible amalgam allowing the corners of the chosen design to be filled 1; amalgam is poured on the drawing which is at the bottom of the mold, so as to cover the immobilization bars 10 of the drawing which are in the thickness of the slab. We place inside the molding, the grid-serving of scrap to the desired thickness, the slab 4 is dried in its mold. At least forty-eight hours later, we unmold. Once demolded, the slab 4 is turned over. The support plate 11 is detached from the surface 3 of the slab 4 to which it is fixed by dots of weak adhesive 12 to the cutout of the drawing 2 which then appears on the surface 3 of the slab 4 (see FIGS. 2 and 3) .
We proceed to a first sanding of the slab using a stone and water sander for the granite using different grains from 1 to 4; a mixture of very liquid white or colored cement is applied to the slab to fill the various small holes left by the air bubbles; the film formed by the cement is then dried, then a second sanding is used to restore the slab to its smooth and clean appearance, then the said slab is polished using a felt disc and polishing pot , finally the slab is finished with the floor sealer.
In Figure 4, the slab 4 shown is formed with grains of different colors, the bottom 5 is of a certain type, the hand 6 is filled with another grain 7 and finally the terrestrial globe
is in another grain 8.
Hand 6 proper is cut from plastic 14 of one color, while plastic 15 of the globe 9 can be in another color.
The finished slab has a new aesthetic appearance and its manufacturing cost is lower compared to what is currently done in terrazzo, mosaic ...
