Abstract

FIXING DEVICE FOR DENTAL PROSTHESES, IN PARTICULAR FOR FREE-END, MONO OR BI-LATERAL PROSTHESES. THIS DEVICE IS CONSTITUTED BY THE COMBINATION OF A MALE ELEMENT, IN THE SHAPE OF A SPHERICAL HEAD, EQUIPPED WITH AN ANCHORING MEANS 3 IN THE RESIDUAL TEETH, WITH A FEMALE ELEMENT 4 CONSTITUTED BY A HOLLOW CYLINDRICAL BODY ANCHORED ON THE PROTHETIC PART, CLOSED AT ONE END AND PRESENTING A LONGITUDINAL NOTCH FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF THE SAID SPHERICAL HEAD, AS WELL AS AN OBLIQUE SLIT INTENDED TO CONFER THE AUDIT CYLINDRICAL ELEMENT THE ESSENTIAL ELASTICITY TO OBTAIN THE NECESSARY PRECISION IN THE COUPLING.

Description

The present invention relates to an improved fixation for prostheses

dental and in particular

  for mono and bi-lateral free end prostheses.

  The object of the invention is to achieve a precision fastening of the type indicated above which, compared to the systems known hitherto, offers many advantages of

  structural and functional character, such as the extreme simplicity

  performance, the ability to adapt perfectly

  According to the invention, there is provided a fixing device comprising, combined, a shaped male element

  As shown in FIG. 1, the device according to the invention consists of a male element, comprising a spherical head (1) integral with a collar (2) and a grooved base or anchoring element (3), in the form of a "diabolo", and by a female element (4), of cylindrical shape, having an internal cavity (5) intended to receive accurately the spherical bolt (1), and a longitudinal guide notch for the collar ( 2). The cylinder (4) is closed on one end, the inner surface of which has a cupola depression (7), the latter being intended to stop the spherical head (1) under the conditions of maximum depression of the prosthesis. The cylinder (4) is welded at (8) to the bar (9) of

  saddle, as we will see later.

  To give the female element (4) sufficient elasticity to accurately accommodate the spherical head (1) and to give the prosthesis the exact positioning without compromising the ease of periodic removal of this prosthesis, the cylindrical body has, near its end

closed, inclined slot (10).

  The two elements described above are coupled as shown in Figure 2. The assembly on the prosthesis is carried out as shown in Figures 3 and 4. The "diabolo" (3) is incorporated by fusion or solder to ground fondue

  (11) in gold or another technologically adequate alloy.

  The circular groove of the diabolo (3) serves to obtain a perfect anchorage in the mass (11) which is applied to the healthy tooth (12) and is covered with the outer cap (14). The female element (4) is directly welded to the bar (9) of the saddle (15), of conventional type, bearing the prosthesis teeth (16). As can be seen in FIG. 3, the device according to the invention can be used also in the case of two-side free saddles, in combination

  with a hook (17), of conventional type, fixed on one end

  of the lingual bar (18). Of course, it can be provided, always in the case of two-side free saddles, two junctions as described. The application of the prosthesis is shown schematically in FIG. 5, whereas in FIG. 6 is indicated the possibility of providing, next to the hook (17), a hinge joint (19) which is not described in FIG.

  Figures 7 and 8 illustrate the possibility of

  use of the fastening device even in the case of single-side free saddle. In this case, to have the necessary anchor point in the opposite part of the dental arch, the free end of the lingual bar (18) is provided with a curved appendage (20) to be inserted into an originally healthy tooth (21), after digging, coating and protection of the seat (22) corresponding. The prosthesis is applied in the manner indicated in FIG. 7. The appendix (20) is first inserted into the seat (22) and then the free saddle is joined as it was

  already been indicated previously.

Claims (6)

  Fixing device for dental prostheses, characterized in that it comprises, combined, a male element in the form of a spherical head (1) anchored in a stable manner on the residual toothing or on a fixed prosthesis, and a female element constituted by a hollow cylindrical seat (4) fixed to the movable prosthesis and intended to receive the spherical head, this seat being provided with means for controlling the exact positioning of said spherical head and to allow the precise positioning of the prosthetic part by relative to the residual dentition.   2. Device according to claim 1, characterized   in that said spherical head (1) forms a single body with a diabolo-shaped fastening element (3) for incorporation into the melt of support or a fixed prosthesis.   3. Device according to claims 1 or 2,   characterized in that said female element (4) has one of its ends closed by means of a wall having, on the inside, a dome-shaped surface (7) intended to serve as a stop for the spherical head (1). of the male element, and that this female element has an inclined slot (10), made near its closed end, the purpose of which is to give the cylindrical part the elasticity necessary for the insertion   of the male element without play and without deformation.   4. Device according to one of claims 1   at 3, characterized in that said female element (4) is fixed by welding to the frame (9) of the saddle and to a lingual bar (18).   5. Device according to one of claims 1   to 4, characterized in that said female element, in the case of mono-lateral free saddle, is connected to an opposite dental element by means of a rocker, constituted by a curved appendage (20), welded at the end adjacent to the palatal bar.   6.
