Abstract

A plasticised joining strip for the fabric of an awning or canopy for attaching the awning to a caravan comprises a cloth strip folded over on itself and enclosing a rubber cord. The outer surface of the strip is divided lengthwise into a plasticised zone to allow the welding of the strip on to the awning fabric and an unplasticised zone providing easy slippage. By incorporating a non-plasticised zone, the rubber cord can be fitted easily into a piping or braiding groove in the caravan, which fitment has previously proved difficult when the whole strip was plasticised.
