Abstract

The device comprises a U-shaped frame consisting of two parts hinged together at one side. The free ends of the two parts of the frame hold a spacer between them, which also forms a carrying handle. One end of the spacer is welded to the frame, while the other end may be attached by a padlock to the second part of the U-shaped frame. Inside the frame there are two blocks of padding material - e.g. rubber - which are shaped to support the sail-board itself. There may also be provision in the padding for various sail-board attachments. On each end of the carrying handle there are metal loops which may receive clips attached to the two ends of a carrying strap. A cable attached to the frame, and to a crocodile clip which may be fitted to the vehicle, forms part of an electrical burglar alarm warning of an attempted theft.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for protecting windsurfing boards or similar objects against theft.

The fashion currently in development of windsurfing brings on the places of use the problem of their storage and the prevention of theft.

In the absence of adequate means, users are forced between two trips to follow their windsurfing on the gallery of their car, or, which is not always easy in their accommodation.

We tried to solve this problem. One of the known solutions consists in fixing the mast transversely to the board by a lockable blocking means cooperating with the drift well, which has the effect of making the windsurf board untransportable due to its size and unusable.

This known method and the means used do not however give a satisfactory result insofar as they do not provide protection for the windsurfing board in a normal transport position, which excludes their use on transport vehicles.

The guiding idea of the present invention is to protect the windsurf boards against theft by making them unsuitable for any use while bringing together the various components, board, mast, and daggerboard, wishbone - a normal transport fixing which allows 'use said device to ensure the safety of the board both during transport for example on the gallery of a vehicle, as when abandoned on a beach, for example between two exits.

According to another characteristic of embodiment of the invention, one of the branches of the frame is provided with a heavy member eccentric relative to the axis of the board and contributing to unbalance the latter during the setting at the water.

According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the frame is provided with an audible alarm device triggered when the board is moved, supplied by a source internal to said frame.

As shown in the accompanying drawings, the anti-theft device for windsurfing or the like according to the invention is constituted by an armature I conformed to a stirrup with two branches 2 and 3 movable in separation or in connection connected by their free end by a locking member 4 and surrounding the windsurf board 5 and its accessories (mast and wishbone).

This anti-theft device comprises an immobilizing means 6 which obstructs to prevent the windsurfing 5 from being released when the stirrup is received.

As shown in FIG. 1 the stirrup 1 in the general shape of a U formed by two branches 2 and 3 articulated by a hinge 7 and of shape such as the said branches, for reasons of ease of manufacture and to allow a maximum opening of the housing, are articulated in the lower corner of the U when the yoke 1 is about to receive the windsurf board, that is to say when the yoke is in a position perpendicular to the ground and that the horizontal branch 3 serves as a support base.

These two branches 2 and 3 connected by means of a hinge 7 of the hinged type, for example are preferably metallic and advantageously in hollow profile for reasons of lightness of the device.

A brace 8 placed at the end of the stirrup defines with the branches 2 and 3 of the U of said stirrup the housing capable of receiving the windsurfing board.

This spacer 8 preferably mentally is fixed by any known means or method such as by welding for example on one of the branches of the stirrup I and acts as a handling handle.

On any one of the ends of said fin 11 is fixed a counterweight 12.

Said flyweight 12 which can be made of any heavy material such as lead, for example, is fixed by any known means near the end of one of the branches of the stirrup 1 so as to unbalance the board in water sail fitted with the anti-theft device according to the invention.

Still outside the stirrup I, at the end of each of the branches is attached a hooking stirrup 13, capable of receiving a carabiner of a carrying strap 14.

According to a variant of this embodiment as shown in FIG. 2, the housing is obtained by means of two identical articulated branches 15A and 15B, which facilitates manufacture.

Said branches are articulated at one of their ends by means of a joint as in the embodiment described above, but their free end is bent outward so as to come into contact with one another and to be kept thus in contact by means of any known locking device such as a padlock 16, for example.

According to another alternative embodiment, not shown, the lug 6 fixed on one of the branches crosses, in the closed position, right through the opposite branch by a light provided for this purpose, and can receive in an orifice located at the output of said light any locking system such as a padlock for example.

The alarm being triggered as described above and this whole circuit being protected from any untimely modification except the massa circuit, the triggering of the alarm will therefore stop on this vulnerable part of the circuit.

The separation of a ground contact (ml or m2) from ground, or the cutting of one of the wires connecting the said contacts to the main circuit, even temporary, triggers the alarm.

This tripping is obtained by means of the relay R which is no longer supplied due to this cutoff, even momentary and which therefore immediately restores all of its contacts to their initial position.
