Abstract

The filter is of the type having an element of concertina- pleated filter sheet. The element is pref. of annular cross-section with the pleats extending axially from end to end of the element. Each end of the element has a cover plate fixed to the sheet with adhesive cement into which the sheet is set. On the air inlet side of the element a baffle plate is also fixed to the cover plate by setting in the same cement. This protects against the shearing action of gusts of wind the filter sheet at the plane of emergence from the cement.

Description

The present invention relates to a suspended matter filter for ventilation installations, provided with a pleated filter material and covered at each of its faces at the end of a wall shaped as a cover and fixed by means of an insulating mass (compound ) or an adhesive cement.

Filters of this type are used to filter the air entering a room through a duct. They must be equipped with means which prevent deterioration of the filter material when "gusts of wind" occur. These are characterized by an overpressure which is established in an extremely short time, twisting by a few milliseconds, then is followed by zero pressure or even by a depression.

Known air filters have baffle systems for receiving and reflecting the impact of these gusts of wind.

A known air filter, intended for premises ventilation installations, is constituted by a filtering medium housed in a box provided with a tube ~ for the air intake and another for its output. A baffle plate is disposed between the inlet manifold and the filter medium on the air path. It is preferably a circular disc whose diameter is at least equal to the inside diameter of the inlet pipe.

It is fixed to the shoemaker by clips. A space is left between the baffle and the inlet pipe so that the flow section of the deflected air stream is not reduced. The presence of the baffle prevents a possible "gust of wind" from hitting the environment directly: filtering in front of the inlet pipe. The deviation imposed by it directs the gust of wind towards the peripheral wall of the box and, therefore, precisely towards the endangered place of the filter medium, especially if it is a filter element for suspended matter . Indeed, at this point, such an element is fixed to the housing or to another support by gluing and therefore particularly rigid.

L'impact de l'air le soumet à des efforts de cisaillement qui peuvent l'arracher tout net (modèle d'utilité allemand 19 95 835).The impact of the air subjects it to shearing forces which can tear it apart (German utility model 19 95 835).

Another known suspended matter filter, intended for respiratory protection devices, comprises a flat filter material pleated in a star shape. It is covered at its two end faces by walls shaped as a cover, to which it is fixed by means of an insulating mass or compound. The two end walls are braced by an inner cylinder made of perforated sheet metal. The air to be filtered arrives through this cylinder. It flows radially from the inside to the outside through the holes in the sheet and the filter material. A possible "wind" is reflected by the end wall opposite to the inlet pipe and crosses the filter material at a high speed. High shear forces then stress this material over the compound and risk damaging it ( German patent il 82 528).

The object of the invention is therefore to provide a suspended matter filter for ventilation installations which the stresses due to gusts of wind leave intact, that is to say in which the sudden increases in pressure of the filtered air do not can reach threatened places, slightly above the compound.

To this end, in the filter according to the invention, baffles are arranged on the air inlet side, near the filter material, and are fixed with the latter in the insulating material or the adhesive cement. The free height of these baffles can vary between 2 and 5 cm. They can be formed from raised or folded edges.

Fig. 1 est une vue en coupe longitudinale d'un filtre rond selon l'invention;
Fig. 2 est une vue en coupe suivant A - B de fig. i;
The advantageously simple arrangement of the baffles or the baffle conformation of interior elements creates a structure whose configuration eliminates any risk of deterioration by sudden pressure changes in the filtered air. The zones which are directly above the insulating mass or the adhesive cement are subtracted from the effects of shearing forces. The tensile force which is created during the distribution of these gusts of wind over the entire surface at the place where the filtering material is fixed in the insulating mass or the adhesive cement and is exerted on said material is supported without damage The joint fixing of the baffles and the pleated filter material in the space provided for this purpose and defined by the shape of the covers is, from the point of view of assembly, simple and safe.
In any case, the invention will be clearly understood with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing, representing, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of this filter:
Fig. 1 is a view in longitudinal section of a round filter according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view along A - B of FIG. i;
Fig. 3 is a top view showing packets # of folds arranged in an accordion of the filter material.

Figures 1 and 3 show the suspended matter filter in the two forms in which it is most often found: the round shape and that in which the packets of folds of the filtering material are arranged in an accordion.

In the round filter 1, the filter material 2, which is pleated in a star, is, at the end faces of the filter, fixed to the covers 4, 5 by means of an insulating mass (compound) or of an adhesive cement 2. The air inlet orifice 6 is provided in the upper cover 4. The covers i, 5 have their peripheral edge 7 respectively raised or folded down, while their central part is pushed back in 12 towards the inside of the filter, thus defining with the folded edge a housing for the mass or the cement.

Baffles 8, which here have the form of rings, are fixed in the mass or cement 2, a short distance from the inner edge 9 of the pleated filter material. They have a free height of between 2 and 5 cm. In the event of a gust of wind, the shock wave of the air which penetrates into the filter and which, after impact, is reflected, can no longer exert radially a shearing force on the filtering material, directly above the mass or cement 2. This shock wave can reach the filtering material only beyond the free edge of the c # baffles 8 and it is then distributed over the entire surface. The filter material 2 then only undergoes in the area of its fixing a tensile force
The filter shown in FIG. 3 includes the same type of baffles, but these baffles II are here bands adapted to the shape of the filtering material 2.

The baffles 8, li can be made of metal, plastic or any other suitable material.
