Abstract

The fuel pump (8) supplying an injection pump (12) can take fuel from either of two tanks (1,2). The connection is changed over by a solenoid valve (7,21). The solenoid (21) is energised through the contact of a relay (20). The circuit to the relay contains one switch (19) operated by the vehicle brake pressure and a second switch (25) operated by the gearbox. The fuel is thus automatically changed when the vehicle stops and the engine is used to drive machinery the power take off. To avoid mixing the fuels the excess fuel from the injection pump (12) is returned upstream (17) of the delivery pump (8).
