Abstract

The bellows (2) consist of a rectangular collapsible structure that fits inside the casing (1) enclosing part of the screw (4) that controls the boat's rudder, i.e. is pivoted at its end to the tiller. The screw is rotated under the control of of a magnetic compass and accordingly moves in or out of the casing, pivoting the tiller arm as it does so. The bellows have short tube that connects to a short pipe projecting into the casing thereby connecting the inside of the bellows to the outside of the casing.
