Abstract

Rising water (3) is prevented from passing through an opening such as a door (2) or window into a building by a plate (1) which can be fixed into a recess in the door (2). An inflatable seal (12) is fixed over at least part of the periphery of the plate. Angled pieces of flexible material (8,9) which taper outwards at the apex fit into the seal as it is folded around the corners of the plate.
