Abstract

The medical appliance for treating the ear includes a U-shaped frame with two straight arms (111,112) linked by a curved end (113). The lower arm (112) has a small rectangular magnet (122) attached to the upwardly facing surface, its south pole being in contact with the arm and its north pole facing upwards. A shaft (114) passes perpendicularly through the end of the upper arm (111) and has a second similar magnet (121) attached to its lower end. This second magnet has its north pole uppermost and south pole facing the other magnet. A spring (115) on the shaft urges the two magnets together. The two arms of the frame are about 3 cm long allowing the magnets to be positioned around any chosen point on the ear. The combination of gentle pressure and magnetic field acting on specific points is said to be beneficial.
