Abstract

The stretcher is made from a heavy fabric such as canvas, coated with plastics if required. Several handholds (10) are provided along the two parallel sides of the rectangular fabric and at least one along the remaining shorter sides. These handholds comprise elongated slots, strengthened by a double thickness of material sewn over. Short rigid reinforcing grips are positioned between the holes and the sides. Further in and adjacent to the handholds are reinforced sleeves (12,13) for locating carrying poles (14). These are made from an additional thickness of fabric, sewn parallel to the long sides.

Description

The subject of the present invention is a rack for moving the injured while awaiting the arrival of first aid or for transporting them to an aid station if no other means is available.
Devices of this type are known comprising a stretcher provided with stretchers and whether or not supplemented by accessories to keep the injured person there during his transfer.

These devices are well developed and appreciated but cumbersome and we can hardly imagine them elsewhere than in specialized vehicles and / or premises.

 We are currently, all too often, confronted with problems of displacement of wounded and it seems desirable to have an adequate material easily usable and stored in a minimum of space.

 One of the aims of the invention is to provide a rack which responds to first emergencies and which can easily be accommodated in any vehicle or premises.

 Another object of the invention is to provide a rack making it possible to transport an injured person in a narrow passage, for example a wagon corridor.

 Another object of the invention is to provide a rack making it possible to transport a corpulent injured person.

 Another object of the invention is to be able to transform this rack into a stretcher by simple addition of two stretchers, possibly in several parts to allow storage under a small volume.

 The rack according to the invention is consti-tue by a rectangle of strong canvas, coated or plastiiié, whose length and width are substantially equal to those of a man lying.

 The essential characteristic of this rack lies in the fact that this fabric comprises, in combination, fixed and other removable gripping means and that the removable means can possibly be used for attaching compression accessories to the injured person during his transfer.

The fixed gripping means of the rack are cylindrical handles sewn into the hem of the fabric at judicious distances around the entire periphery and associated with lights made parallel to said handles, slightly set back from them, inward so that 'by taking the handle it is lodged in the palm of the hand and kept there tight by passing the fingers in' the light cut for this purpose in the canvas,
The removable gripping means consist of two stretchers, possibly in two or three telescopic parts, which each slide into the sheath of the longitudinal hems of the fabric.

This rack in its simplest version, is intended to be part of the accessories that each motorist or road driver should have in his trunk as well as the pharmacy den kit to be able to move an injured person from the road in order to evade traffic without aggravating its trauma. It would have its place in various points in workshops in factories of medium to large area always for first aid while waiting for the arrival of specialists and in transport in the Koran.

 The addition of stretchers to reduce the number of carriers is aimed at the case where it is necessary to travel a certain distance to access the aid station.

The accompanying drawings which show a non-limiting example of embodiment of the invention will make it possible, with reference to it, to fully understand the description which follows - Figure 1 is a plan view from above of the rack - Figure 2 shows the rack, uuni of stretchers - Figure 3 is a plan view from below of the rack - Figure 4 is a perspective sectional view of part of the canvas with a handle, its light and the sheath for the stretcher.

 In Figures 1-2 and 3 we see that the rack is constituted by a canvas rectangle 1 whose length and width correspond to the dimensions of an elongated hoae. This door fabric is in coated or plasticized natural fibers or embroidered in synthetic material, easily washable.

 The rack is provided with at least ten gripping points 2, arranged four along the length of each side and opposite and one in the middle of each of the short sides.

 The rack comprises hems 3 and 4 with simple filling and relatively narrow which border its widths and longitudinal hems 5 and 6 whose hinge is also narrow but which are sufficiently wide to each constitute the sheath 13 in which a stretcher 14 possibly slides. .

This rack has at least two uses: as a means of transporting an injured person by four people who lift it using its handles 9 and peripheral lights 10, then as a means of transporting an injured person over a longer route using only two people after having slipped two stretchers 14 into the sleeves 13 and possibly having hooked two cross members 15 to keep the stretchers apart.

To perfect this latter variant, it is finally possible to add known compression accessories such as straps, chin rests or the like which hang on the crosspieces 15 and / or on the stretchers 14. The stretchers 14 may simply be in polished wood or in tube with end caps wood or, in a more elaborate version be in three parts in metal tube the extreme parts screwing into the ends of the central tube so that, dismantled the stretchers occupy a minimum of space. The cross members 15 shown diagrammatically in Figure Z can be simply polished, fitted at each end with a stirrup 16 overlapping those of the stretchers.
