Abstract

The swimming flipper (10) has one part in the form of a sock (14), which is open at the end (36), and blades (24,26) joined to the sock by hinges (28,30) so that they can be folded up. The blades have holes through them (34) so that the two faces of the blade communicate to reduce their weight. The diameter of each hole is about 15mm. and they are distributed regularly over the blade. The perforated part of each blade is between 15 and 20 per cent of the total.
