Abstract

The spring diaphragm uses cranked cover tongues (24.26) and an elastic ring (27) to clamp the diaphragm (11) in place. The diaphragm comprises an annular belleville spring (11) from which radial fingers (19) cantilever towards the interior. The rim of the diaphragm contacts the pressure plate to press the friction disc onto the flywheel. The external cover flange fixes to the flywheel, the inner flange (10) ridging (22) to form a diaphragm seat. The ring (27) is cranked to form the counter seat (28). The diaphragm is held so that only 0.03 to 0.20 mm of shift will occur.
