Abstract

The electric hand drill is specifically suitable for making drill-holes in multilayered wall, floor or ceiling structures, the layers of which are of differing material consistency and hardness and therefore require partly rotary drilling, partly percussive drilling. In such cases it is important to switch over at the correct time and with quick response from rotary drilling to percussive drilling. The switching-over is effected by a locking-bar element (30, 30a), which can be actuated by a finger of the hand otherwise firmly gripping around the handle. In the locking position, the locking-bar element locks the tool (27) indirectly or directly in an axial position in which it lies outside the percussion range of the axially percussive percussion member (15b), that is to say it just drills. The locking-bar element (30, 30a) can be guided out of its locking position by a movement running transversely with respect to the drilling axis (a-a).
