Abstract

A machine vice is provided with a hollow quick-motion spindle (10) and a power amplifier producing the clamping force and having a drive spindle (18) actuating it. The drive spindle (18) is guided coaxially in the quick-motion spindle (10) and is coupled to it via a torque coupling (20) and has for its separate actuation a spindle end which projects axially from the quick-motion spindle (10) and on which a stop sleeve (27) is arranged in a non-rotatable manner and in such a way that it can be set axially in various positions. At their ends facing one another, the stop sleeve (27) and the quick-motion spindle (10) carry stop pieces (24.1, 24.2) which, upon rotation of the drive spindle (18) relative to the quick-motion spindle (10), strike one another in the direction of rotation before the stop sleeve (27) and the quick-motion spindle (10) collide axially. This ensures that the stop sleeve (27) cannot be tightened axially against the quick-motion spindle (10). Nonetheless, the clamping force can be accurately limited according to the axial setting of the stop sleeve (27).
