Abstract

The ignition circuit is for IC engines. The circuit is inductive and uses numeric techniques to control the duration of the magnetising current in the ignition coil primary winding. The numeric circuits (4) are controlled by a clock source, can be retarded and generate a square wave output which can have a fixed duration or have a duration which is a function of engine RPM. The advance and retard control circuit (3) is fed by an RPM transducer (1) associated with the flywheel and referenced to the cylinders dead points and a load transducer (3) in the inlet manifold. The clock source provides a signal (EN) whose frequency is a function of RPM, the numeric circuit output supplying a high voltage spark source (5) and a distributor.
