Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent an unequal discharge in plasma ignition of an internal combustion engine, by injecting plasma ignition energy only to an ignition plug operated with a spark discharge through high voltage from a spark discharge power source. CONSTITUTION:High voltage is generated by a booster 9 to charge a capacitor 17 in a plasma ignition circuit 31, if a thyristor 19 is turned on at ignition timing, energy is injected to ignition plugs 8-1, 8-4, applied with a spark discharge by high voltage from an ignition coil 3 through a distributor 7, through diodes 6-1, 6-4, to perform plasma ignition. At this time, cylinders of the other ignition plugs are in an exhaust stroke, and injection of energy is not caused, while an ignition circuit 32 is also operated in a similar manner. Further the thyristors 19, 20 are turned on by such firing signals that a rotor 26 in a firing signal generator 25 is rotated one turn for two turns of a crankshaft to apply outputs of sensors 27, 28 through waveform shaping delay circuits 29, 30.
