Abstract
Ester is prepd. of formula CHR1R2-CO-O-CH2-CHR1R2 (II) from a prim. alcohol of formula CHR1R2-CH2OH (I), by heating the later at 170-250 degrees C in the presence of an O2-contg. Cu II cpd., the reaction medium being kept in the liq. phase, where R1 and R2 and H, (cyclo)aliphatic or aromatic gp., or R1 and R2 are linked to form a ring, R1 and R2 together contg. >=5C. Process involves a single step, has very high selectivity and gives high yield (>=90%).
