Abstract

The throttle (3) of the carburetter is linked (4) to an operating stem (5) which depresses the pump piston (6). The piston works in a chamber (7) below the float chamber (10) with a non return inlet connection (8) from the chamber. It discharges fuel through a second non return valve (11) to an accelerating jet (13) in the throat of the air inlet (2). The piston has bores (17, 19, 20, 21) which form a passage through it. The passage is closed by a spring loaded valve (15). A stem (16) below the valve strikes the bottom of the working chamber on each downstroke and opens the valve to release vapour bubbles back into the float chamber.
