Abstract

The security system includes a rotating door (2) turning inside a cylindrical drum (1) and forming the only entrance to a protected area. There are two openings (3, 4) into the door enclosure, both being on the same side of a diametral line perpendicular to the plane of the wall. The door may only turn one way (A), so that people entering the area have to follow a slightly longer path (B), while people leaving the area take a slightly shorter route (C). The four dividing panels are made of bullet proof glass (6). A metal detector able to detect any weapons is situated in the 'in' path (B), and in response to a detection locks the door, imprisoning a potential criminal in the door space. In due course the door may be motor driven in reverse in order to deliver the criminal into the hands of police waiting outside the 'in' door (3).
